Love those dancing prawns

Had a nice romantic dinner with hubby there some months ago. Thought the prawn crackers with sambal was a nice touch to start the meal. I am a big prawn fan and the dancing prawns appetizer is definitely one of my favorites. Tom yam soup was delicious, we closed our eyes, inhaled the fragrance... read more

One of my best friends is getting married at Shook! We simply loved their food and the goegeous restaurant!! But of course, the wedding party is more than that: party rundown, seating plan, menu design, dessert table.... We are so lucky to have the management of Shook!'s full support! Especially Chef Kelvin, he not only designed a very creative and... More

Surprised me with their friendly service, super value lunch menu and prime location to have the bund view, Shook! Is one of the best restaurant I tried in Shanghai. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends who love fine things in life and missing good Malaysian, Thai or Singapore localities.

The set lunch menu was a delightful experience for a more than reasonable price, served by professional staff. I am based in Shanghai since more than 6 years and I have experienced so many restaurants openings with pretentious bad quality food (not to mention about the staff…); this is totally not the case at Shook!! I am glad to have... More

Thai, Malay, French, Japanese fusion. Too much fusion equal confusion. The restaurant is located in 5th floor of Swatch Peace Hotel which saw better times. Food is average but high priced. Service staff is over attentive but on efficient and a bit clumsy. If you go look for table in friend / bund view. Also check out the roof terrace.

Plenty of hype and super friendly staff, but overall a disappointment. The menu is more confusion than fusion, the food ordinary (my satay was as good as Singapore Airlines, but when airline food seems the right comparison, you are in trouble). I never thought I would criticize a restaurant for having too many staff, but in Shook the over-riding ambiance... More

Living in Shanghai, I’ve tried all of the restos on the Bund and without a doubt, Shook! offers something different. The best experience of them all. Great bar to start with (good wine list including NZ whites) and a dining room that reminds you that you’re in Asia – not in some wannabe NYC restaurant. And as opposed to sometimes... More

A restaurant on the Bund can charge a lot per plate, and this one does, but this was not as unique as we had expected or hoped. Good, but we liked M on the Bund better.

Food is very good, but expensive which is typical for restaurants on the Bund. We were fortunate to get a wonderful table with views of the Bund. The service was exceptional. My two complaints were that the portions were small and we made the mistake of requesting bottled water which cost us $270 RMB for three bottles (roughly $42). Stick... More

I've been here twice now and just reserved a seat tonight for my third visit during my month in Shanghai. As a frequent traveler and foodie I seek out great food experiences everywhere I go. And while I truly enjoy authentic, local food experiences (In Shanghai there are plenty. If you haven't gone on a street food adventure you are... More
