Big, tasty dumplings on a great street to visit if you are new to Shanghai. Dumplings come on plates of 4 or 6. They are filling and 4 was plenty!

Don't be fooled by the small entrance by the window, there's seating for two more floors. It's hard to find a cheaper dinner which will taste so good, especially in this area of town. You only need six dumplings of you're very hungry.

This is a local dive and may not be good for tourists. The dumplings are so familiar to me just like the ones I grew up with. Not all locations are created equal. Settings are particularly difficult. You have to fight with the locals and not be afraid to grab one....

I took a takeaway of four pieces of shengjianbao and ate it at my hotel which was just a short walk away. For 6rmb, it is super cheap and the quality is good. The buns are crispy, the pork filling is generous and the broth delicious. Very very good value for money as a breakfast or snack!

This location was very close to the Radisson Blu Shanghai New World where we were staying. We went for a light dinner one night (before going to the late night dinner at Mr. and Mrs. Bund and honestly I was more impressed with Yang's than Mr. and Mrs. Bund!) We enjoyed the dumplings so much we had it for dinner... More

Having first visited this shop a few years back, this time around, the menu has expanded, but somehow the original dumplings just did not taste as good. Vegetarians will delight as there are veggie dumplings on offer. The beef broth soup is a nice accompaniment to a scalding order of port dumplings.

Stopped at the branch next to the Orient Pearl Tower and got a dumpling plate to go as there was no where to sit. For 18 rmb I got 2 veg, 2 shrimp and 2 pork. Absolutely delicious and I was extra happy as I didn't have to go out of my way to try these.

I was in Beijing, when another traveler I've met in the hostel told me the best dumplings in the world were in Shanghai and close to the hostel where I was going to stay (Shanghai was my next stop in my trip). So, I took note of the name! When I got to Shanghai, everyone in the hostel seemed to... More

Absolutely cannot be missed if you're in Shanghai. Find your nearest branch and make an effort to get there.

When in Shanghai you must visit Yang's Fried Dumplings. You cannot argue with the lines that form with monotonous regularity.
