Japanese Food on the Bund

The sushi and sashimi is fine, but, not good enough to be raved about. If you want good decent Japanese food on the Bund, this is pretty much the choice. The food is on the expensive side, due to its location. If you can get a table with the view of the Lu Jia Zui, that would be nice... read more

We had a office dinner in one of the private rooms facing the Bund. The food was abundant and really good. The Shasimi was fresh. The tempura perfect and good sizes. We also had beef which was really good cooked. The shushi was quite ok too but nothing from another world. We had beers and wine all properly served. The... More

The location is not suitable compare to price level. They told us location will close at 11 pm and last order at 10 pm but we check in at 9pm and we realized that the kitchen was already empty and closed. After we got the order, foods arrived very quickly and waiters were very stressy to let us eat. At... More

Wonderful Japanese restaurant with something for everyone. Very convenient location if you're in the Bund area. Terrific layout with a playful array of rooms and seating. We had a group and ordered a bunch of dishes to share -- sushi, hibachi, tempura -- it was all great!

The price iyou pay is quite expensive (kind of Fine Dining Japanese) but when you call to get a booking staff don't even speak English. When asked to book a table for lunch they will always tell you "sorry, no seats" which is absolutely not true as if you go there directly they always have seats available... Like the food... More

Around the Bund are a lot of expensive Restaurant, but are they also good and the Price worth? There is a Restaurant with a real Japanase Food at the Bund No 3. The Atmosphere with a big open Kitchen is quiet nice, but not really romantic! At the Case you prefer, they also offer a lot of privat rooms. The... More

Sun with Aqua is in quite good location. The food is good, but not exceptional. Prices are ok for lunch, but bit pricey for dinner. Lunch set (sushi & sashimi) is best option here. Lunch prices are typically at least RMB 200 per head without drinks, but it is easy to spend 400 per head. All ingredients are fresh. Food... More

Was really craving sushi and looked up restaurants in the area. This place came up and the reviews were great...and it didn't disappoint. Very, very great sushi and great, wide ranging Japanese menu. Perfect.

The sashimi is great, and the different beef options are fantastic, served with fried garlic slices and wasabi mustard. The chefs work in full view of the visitors. Highly recommended.

The presentation and quality of the sashimi at Sun and Aqua is fabulous! I always sit at the bar, where you can see the many chefs busily at work. I have overheard people who sit at the tables complaining about various aspects of the service. I'm in Shanghai, not North America, and find service extremely good compared to many other... More

Staying in The Bund

Neighborhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
