I had dinner at Pistolera at the recommendation of a local expat. As overseas Mexican goes, I thought it was quite good. The veggie burrito I had was flavorful and not grossly oversized like many you see in the U.S. A small bowl of chips and salsa was brought to the table when we arrived. The food arrived quickly and... More

Yes the guacamole is not good but the chili was very good, thick and had nice spice. Fish tacos were fair but basically the key is that the joint is full of expats, so much that it felt like being in michigan rather than China. I knew more people than at home. If your looking for something other than expats... More

Pistolera is a slightly over-priced Western expat restaurant in the tony Jin Qiao neighborhood of Pudong, Shanghai, China. The food is good quality, using white meat chicken, etc. but the quantity is small for its large price tag. Only 1 small bowl of chips per table - even if you have 6 people at your table! That being said, it... More

Very nice for quality casual dining. Great margaritas and good selection for vegetarians. We have been there a few times with friends. Depending on the weather you can choose to dine inside or outside. Best place for our ladies parties. Recommend reservation especially if it's more than a family.

Went here with some friends in the evening for food/drink/music and had a great time. The food helpings are plentiful and if you fancy cocktails and Mexican beers this is the place to be. The band was lively and salsa dancing is a must, feel free join in

It is a great looking restaurant with a signature tequila bar. A good price on the taco lunch special BUT the beef tasted rather gamey! I immediately spit it out so that I wouldn't get the standard 'Shanghai Trots' that are endemic in Chinese restaurants.

Good food and great ambience: The homestyle beef-and-vegetable stew known as cocido, and the tortilla soup, in which shredded chicken and fried tortilla strips are served in thick chicken broth along with tomatoes and chipotle chili. Pistolera has a way with chilies - signature chili dishes start from a simple chili bowl to a chili Sonora hot dog to a... More

Pistolera is a lovely break for Western business travelers who have had several traditional spinning table dinners and want a break with a menu from which they can select familiar Mexican dishes. The millionaire margarita is a must have and at happy hour can be had for 100 RMB per pitcher less. The meals are all very good with six... More

This is my go-to for my Mexican fix ever since I first encountered it. The service is always delightful, and their margaritas are the best I've had in Shanghai. My favorite dish is the chili for which the chef of this restaurant has won many awards, including the Shanghai Chili cook-off! And the chili comes with homemade Mexican tostadas which... More
