Zaozishu, Shanghai. Very good

Neither eggs nor meat are used as ingredients on this green-friendly menu. Imitation meat products are made with vegan ingredients, including mushrooms and soy. Good service. Considered to be one of the vegetarian fine dining hotels and prices are high. Basic english speaking staff. English menu so... read more

We're both not vegetarian but have been here now three times. The food is excellent and we're every time again astonished at how good and meat- or fishlike the dishes taste without containing any meat or fish. The service was attentive and quick, too. Good alternative every once in a while or if you're actually vegetarian, I guess a really... More

It's a shame for bring oversea firends who was the first timer and would like to be impressed by Chinese food. Similar taste to the street food with up marked price, not hygienic and presentable plus my friend got sick the day after. The noodle is even tasteless than some shops selling at 10 rmb. Service too slow and no... More

we had been here many years ago when we just discovered vegetarian food, and it was great. however, returning was a disappointment. Great service, nice presentation but overpriced as spent about 320¥ for 2 pax with a pot of tea. more for those who like mock stuff as the flavour of the vegetables were masked rather than showcased.

Our tour guide took us here for lunch and what a great choice. The vegetarian dishes all were excellent tasting. They looked and tasted great. You know it had to be good as we waited about 15 minutes for a table.

We are vegetarian Indians (no meat, no fish - ok with dairy) and I was looking for a different kind of vegetarian meal with different flavours when in Shanghai. I picked this off tripadvisor with a certificate of excellence! We went hungry with anticipation and were very disappointed with the flavours that came with the food. I would clarify that... More

We have been visiting this restaurant (West Nanjing Road) for almost 4 years now - they kept the quality great, ambient cozy and kept changing items all the time. Highly recommended if you are vegetarian and like to try different style of cuisine

Wow. This restaurant could make me a vegetarian for life. Every dish was incredible. It's not a fancy restaurant, but there's a reason it's one of the highest rates in TripAdvisor of all restaurants, not just vegetarian. It was better than Wujie on the Bund -- which is much fancier. In retrospect, I wish we had just gone back to... More

I went to the outlet at Fengxian Road, a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of the Nanjing West Road metro station on Line 2. Easy to reach there even with luggage. I was so pleased with this place that I went back for 4 meals in 5 days. I tried the Mapo Doufu (spicy tofu), which was consistently good. The... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
