Impressive food and worth the visit - just sharpen up the service!

I don't come to Shanghai often but had heard great things about this place. We stuck to many of their signature dishes and liked their interpretation of traditional cuisine with a twist. Drunken chicken (chilled by a mound of shaoxing wine ice shavings), warm smoked fish (much better than it... read more

I don't come to Shanghai often but had heard great things about this place. We stuck to many of their signature dishes and liked their interpretation of traditional cuisine with a twist. I visited this place earlier in the year. I had an enjoyable dinner during my first visit. I went here again 6 months after my first visit and I had high expectations as I was bringing my whole visiting family to try authentic Shanghainese cuisine. Unfortunately, it was SO difficult to get reservations as they did not pick up their... More

The food looks beautiful but wasn't tasty at all, staff laughing on me rather than calling somebody for help when I had few concerns with the food. Definitely a disaster and I will never be back.

The location and setting of the restaurant is in an old traditional house with traditional house setting adorned with antiques. One dish that amazed me the most was the garlic oil noodles. Simple to make but horribly difficult to master. Fu's rendition of it is a master piece by itself. Ask for recommendations and state your preference of meats, the... More

Fantastic old converted house comes with furniture adds a great historic setting to this place. Real, traditional Shanghainese food that you'll struggle to find elsewhere. Flourdough soup with yellow fish was excellent as was the jellyfish, and seaweed pastries.

We were able to book a table with one day's notice. All the dishes turned out great - my favorite was youbaoxia (quick stirred fried shrimp). The sauce for this dish is quite unique. Every dish was perfectly executed and presented. My dear friend treated us so I have no idea how much this meal cost. But my understanding is... More

I enjoyed the food here but what I remember most was the environment - this is a grand old house and the restaurant area is full of Old Shanghai atmosphere and is very spacious. The building, with its garden could almost be an attraction in itself, albeit perhaps hard to find the first time. I was also most impressed with... More

We were taken to this restaurant by a local food writer and really enjoyed the food. The restaurant is in old villa, with an unmarked entry so you need clear directions on how to find it. We were served dish after dish delicately flavoured, interesting food including chicken in rice wine, honey red dates stuffed with glutinous rice flour, mandarin... More

The location in an old villa is great, and the private dining room at the very top one of the most romantic in all of Shanghai. The food here is more classical than at Fu1015, and things such as the 熏鱼 (smoked fish),红烧肉 (braised pork belly) are some of the best in town.

Shanghai has a growing list of popular (and celebrity) chefs. And near the top of both lists is Tony Yu, who recently created the menu for the Mandarin Oriental in Pudong. I had one of the most amazing fish dishes I’ve ever had at that restaurant and thought it would make sense to try one of chef Yu’s original restaurants.... More
