Several bones and fat chunks in he food and the service was beyond bad. Everyone was smoking. The flavor was good but not worth it.

What to say about Yu Xin? When we first went to this restaurant 6 y ago we loved it. Since then we have spent time eating in Chengdu and Chongqing as well as Shanghai and we mostly eat sichuan cuisine in China and at home. This branch of Yu Xin seems to have slipped significantly. They no longer use as... More

When I planned my business trip to Shanghai I have looked through various forums to check where I can find good Sichuan food. And one of the main options was - Yu Xin Chuan Cai at No.333 Chengdu Beilu on the 3rd Floor of Zhao Shang Ju Square (Merchants Plaza). And that was true . It was very good. It... More

One of the better sze chuan restaurants in shanghai. Reasonably priced. Steamed pumpkin is especially refreshing in this hot weather.

If you are going for the first time, it might be a bit tricky to find. The address is 399 Jiujiang Road. However, it seems the numbers don't run smoothly along Jiujiang Road, and our taxi didn't know where it was. It's actually very easy to find. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of a retail/restaurant/office tower building.... More

Yuxin is my favorite restaurant in all of Shanghai. The menu is huge with great photos so you know what you are getting, the ingredients are fresh, the price is "China price" not inflated for foreigners, and service is fine. I always get a big booth for some privacy, smoking is allowed. Things we had that were good were numb-tongue... More

We went here twice on a recent visit because we were so taken with it. Yes, some of the food is really spicy and we ordered lots of it, but there are a lot of dishes on the menu which aren't so spicy. We were the only Westerners there both times. We ordered huge amounts of food (in order to... More

Clean nice restaurant, fresh ingredients, big booths, normal priced drinks, young cheery staff, authentic Sichuan food, large menu with huge color photos. Flat out best place to eat in Shanghai. There's a lot of overpriced tourist joints which I avoid, but Yuxin is where the locals go for a nice meal. So you get the "China price" (two people with... More

And thankfully most of our party did! This was the second or third time I've been here. Just take the escalator to the top floor. We had a round table in a large room, not quite as private as the spaces for smaller groups. The menu is extensive .. The catfish in hot oil was superb, and the dried string... More

I have eaten here twice now - originally at the recommendation of a local. It dishes up great Sichuan food at very reasonable prices by Shanghai standards - way better food than other more highly regarded (by expats and foreigners at least) Sichuan restaurants in the area. But you come here for the food alone, and if you're a non... More
