Excellent dim sum at Din Tai Fung and an efficient operation. The famous xiaolongbao are indeed excellent, very light and 'airy,' however don't limit yourself to those- all dim sum are of good quality and you can try lots of them. We did not have a reservation but only had to wait 5-10 minutes.

Loved the pork dumplings with soup INSIDE. Pork and hairy crab soup dumplings were good too, but a little rich to eat more than one or two.

They really do have the best soup dumplings around. Yum. Service is very good, very attentive. Come with children and they give you a piece of dough and a lesson to make snails and turtles to keep them amused. Or they can watch the guys in the kitchen making the food. Dumplings arrive piping hot and have them give you... More

Din Tai Fung has become a "must do" for us to take visitors in Shanghai - it's excellent, great food and more importantly, great service. the food is interesting, especially to foreigners and it is important that the surroundings are spotlessly clean in these days of food scandals so it is easy to feel confident that our visitors will be... Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best place for Xiao Long Baos, don't bother going anywhere else, you will be sorely disappointed. The dan dan mian is also very good. Very kid friendly with the staff providing kids with dough from the kitchen to play with as a matter of course. Great service too.

Living in the SF Bay Area and eaten at many dim sum places in SF and around the world I expected this to be good. The food was spectacular!. The skin on the dumplings and wontons were paper thin and the juices succulent. The highlight was an absolutely uniques dish we had which was pork with truffles. This same dish... More

We were rushing to catch a train and just had time for a very quick meal at this great place - a fast food restaurant with a Michelin star. Wish we could return as the two quick dishes we ate were delicious. Yet another place we'd heard of and somehow stumbled upon in our wanderings - it was in the... More

I went with a group of friends to Din Tai Fung in Xintiandi last night. Since we didn't have a reservation, they gave us a number and said it would be about 30 minutes. With a big board announcing which numbers they are on, the process was super easy. We ordered a number of dumpling dishes and some veggies for... More

After three years living in Shanghai, we have learned that Din Tai Fung is an excellent "first stop" for visitors to the 'Hai. Great service, fun food, English on the menus and high quality, interesting food make the "Fung" a great first stop. Have the soup dumplings, pick a few "wild cards" from the menu and relax. You will be... More
