My favourite for Western food

I go here often for lunch or dinner when I'm craving for something Western. The quality of the food is good and the service is okay. Not everyone speaks English but I've always gotten what I've ordered. They also have a happy hour.

It's been months and they still show in the menu options that they don't carry anymore. Service is bad but same as other places. The coffee quality is really bad. In summary, you would come here because you have no choice but leaves a lot to be desired.

It's gotten a bit pricey in recent years, but I think that is partly due to high rents in the snazzy areas they pick. Certainly the locations are all well chosen and nicely done up. Food is reasonable, but the salads are not as healthy as they seem and several times I have had some dodgy old leaves mixed in.... More

I've eaten at Element Fresh at least 10 times. It's a popular destination among foreigners and health conscious people in Shanghai. The staff is polite, the food is tasty, but something just doesn't do it for me at EFresh. As a chain restaurant, you would expect the prices and menu to be the same at each location, however it is... More

I go here for healthy lunch. Love salad and sandwich. Good for ladies on diet. Drinks are very fresh too. Recommend strongly!

While living in Shanghai for 8+ years, I found this restaurant chain to have a reasonably good standard for cleanliness, food quality and service. As I frequently attended the restaurant the staff and management became friends; they care about service and treating customers professionally..... They are much more consistent than many of the other restaurants in Shanghai. For the most... More

Had gone there for lunch with friends to their restaurant in super brand mall. It's an average multi-cuisine restaurant with nothing to write home about. Food was okay, but service was slow.

Fresh food with great ingredients! Portions are really good size, definitely not hungry after 3 courses. I really recommend those juices and smoothies. Next time need to take highly evaluated salads.

Very limited alternatives for gluten free diet. Some of the personnel understood English which helped to make sure that the dish really will be gluten free. Expensive place compared to the quality of the dishes.

Element Fresh is the grand-daddy of western-style modern eatery in Shanghai. It serves fresh, healthy, tasty food like salad, sandwiches, pasta, fresh juices and drinks in a most pleasantly decorated spacious restaurant. It now has several outlets in Shanghai, e.g. one at Kerry Centre which we visited, Portman/Shanghai Centre, one in Pudong, etc. We went there for lunch on Sunday... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighborhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
