We selected this place from the lonely planet and at first we were quite disappointed when we looked at the place form the outside, as not what you would expect for your first dinner out in shanghai. The place is small and you seat in plastic chairs and small tables overlooking the kitchen on one side and the busy Huanghe... More

Echo what many have said...very good hole in the wall. Go early for greatest selection. We went at noon, after looking and looking for the place, joined the lineup and had 3 choices - ordered the pork/crab meat (27 yuan for 12) and pork/egg yolk (20 yuan). Other choice was pure crab meat (99 yuan). Large bottle Tsingtao for 5... More

If it is soup dumplings you want. Then this is the place! Just go early in the day and wait in line! Once they are sold out, they are done! Okay if you are finicky and do not like sit with others at a shared table you should pass. But if you can look past the environment you will have... More

This was second visit. We lined up behind a dozen other hungry fools and waited and we felt a sense of victory when we arrived at the Cashier. This place is supposed to have Xiao Long Bao ranging in price from I think about RMB 13 to RMB 99 for a basket. The lady showed us a menu and hid... More

As title, the food is nice but you have to go before lunch time or you might not have much choice.

This time, I would like to share my experience dining at Jia Jia Tang Bao which was located in Huanghe Road, about a block away from People's Square less than two weeks ago. It all started when one of my local friends took a group of us (4 of us) to this famous place for its Xiao Long Bao. We... More

Don't expect glamour from this place. You're here for the best xiaolongbao you will find in Shanghai. Period. 13 RMB will get you one dozen (pork). Add a beer (5 RMB) and some ginger sauce (1 RMB) and you just had a great meal for under 20 RMB. The place is very small, you will usually find long lines of... More

Truly local version of din tai fung where you can have lunch for 4 euros per person (cheaper if you don't order the crab dumpling) and eat excellent fresh "shanghai soup dumplings " . Pork , shrimp, crab they all are excellent, and, according to me , slightly fresher and better than din tai fung

This is the place to good for juicy and cheap xiaolongpao. 1 basket has 12 pcs. We ordered total of 42 pcs and blood soup and drinks. The bill came out ard 67RMB = $11. We are lucky to get there early and got a seat immediately. However when our shanghainese friend came in with Yang's fried dumplings from across... More

Really amazing xiaolongbau...but watch out, that slurp of soup is really hot. Delicious, freshly made dumplings with vinegar and fresh ginger on the side.
