Closed for Chinese New Year Holiday - to open on Feb 15

My rating is based on the previous times I've been to Jia Jia, but unfortunately this time I did not get to eat there as they are closed for the Chinese New Year Holidays, reopening on Feb 15. Wanted to share this info as I was only in Shanghai for a 6-hour layover, came out of Pudong wanting to... read more

This restaurant is conveniently located to the train station. It was a short walk from the station. Upon arrival, we discovered everything was in Chinese and no one spoke English! It was a little tricky to order, but the lady at the front helped us and we were able to get an order of pork and crab dumplings and another... More

The place is usually packed and you have to queue for quite a while. Best to go in the morning since they may run out by lunch time. The lady boss doesn't allow you to hang around after you've eaten so you'll have to leave immediately after eating. Aside from these pointers, the 小笼包 served here is by far the... More

Xiaolongbao dumplings are a very traditional Shanghainese dish. These are probably the best I've had anywhere. I splurged for the crab dumplings. They were very tasty, with a good-sized piece of meat and some flavorful broth in each little dumpling. Warning - the broth is hot as sin. I suggest you nip a hole in the dumpling and blow in... This place was excellent. The dumplings are cheap and so incredibly tasty. The service was quick and efficient. I speak no Chinese so I just ordered by pointing at pictures and indicating how many I wanted by holding up my fingers. The place is small, so be prepared to sit close to you neighbors. I plan to go back at... More

Worth the wait and the salted egg crab soup dumpling is a must-eat. 99 Renminbi. Come before 11am or it will be sold out. Not too long a queue - perhaps 20-30 mins or so.

I have had soup dumplings in scores of restaurants. These easily make the top 5 (and may even take the top spot). When you realize you are paying $0.20 per dumpling, the value is incredible. I will be returning to try other offerings! This is hole in the wall that was recommend to me by many locals. It is a... More

The four of us went here for breakfast, it was recommended by my family who have lived here for years. We arrived here early, at around 9:15am, but it was already full. We ordered our food while we were waiting for seats, just to save some time. It took around 10 mins to get seats for four, you have to... More

Know this place from a food show. When we reach here at 12 noon, a queue has already formed. I suspect this is partially due to the limited seating inside. Seating is not comfortable as the place is cramp and you have to share tables. My only recommendation here is the crab meat dumpling and the duck/chicken blood. The blood... More

One of the best soup dumplings! Lady was very nice even though we didn't speak Chinese. Most Chinese are rude if you can't speak Chinese. Highly recommended!!
