Another Fantastic Basket(s) of Xiao Long Bao

Back in Shanghai again. My dear wife and I made a bee-line to Jia Jia's after we rubbed off a little jet-lag. We got there at noon and they were all out of the pork and the chicken XLB (cheapest one on the menu). That's ok, because we wanted the crab meat with pork ones anyway (actually... read more

Fun, cheap little place to grab Xiao Long Bao. You'll need to crowd in with locals in the same space, and there may be a line. However, they do any amazing job of phase people's food, and only taking the next order when a table is ready. The tiles on the board indicate what types of XLB are still available.... More

Go as early as they open and you can get your pick of the xiaolongbao dumplings. Jia Jia is a bit of a hole in the wall but the taste and flavors are definitely a hole in one! So tasty and delicious! If you need a quick snack and are craving xiao long baos, this is the place to go... More

I eat here regularly. My most recent visit was 2/1/2015. This restaurant specializes in Shanghai soup dumplings. Some people think Din Tai Feng makes the best dumplings, and it's true they make a fine product. I've eaten there in 6 different cities in 4 different countries, and it's good...but that's another review. Jia Jia Tang Bao makes consistently excellent dumplings.... More

Laugh not! You might, too! I love so much about the cuisine in Shanghai, I really do. But these juicy and meaty xiaolongbao are my muse here, I swear! I just can't get enough of them. And i'll suggest hitting Jia Jia Tang Bao(or Fu Chun) whenever I thing someone is due for something to eat. The setting even suggests "hit... More

This was my second time to Jia Jia Tang Bao (forgot to write a review after the first). Both times were delicious! Not only are the soup dumplings reasonably priced, but they are yum! The first time I went, we went for breakfast and there was no line. The second time we went, we went for an early dinner (around... More

I've tried 4 seasons XLB and I must say that this is on par with the level of how thin the dumpling wrapper and almost as good as the flavor of the meat. It's also great that you get 12 pieces of dumplings for 13 rmb as oppose to 4 pieces for 60 rmb and 4 seasons. Their other flavored... More

As the soup dumplings are made to order, it does involve a bit of a wait. We went at 4pm and didn't have to wait. If there is no line outside, the protocol is to order and pay first at the cashier's by the door, then go in and grab whichever table/chair that is available. We only ordered one steamer... More
