So good we went twice!

This place offers delicious soup dumplings. They close when they run out, so go early. They are small and you'll likely have to share a table (we did, both times). If they can tell you don't speak Chinese, they'll pull out an English menu. Be prepared to order fast if there's a line behind you. We... read more

We visited this restaurant today, at about 4.00pm. Although busy it had no queue at that hour so it was less pressured. I was very grateful for the earlier reviews that did a step by step of the ordering and seating arrangements - that was most helpful. We had the pork and crab dumplings and the crab dumplings. Both were... More

They really do serve some of the best bao in the world. You can see them making them right there in this little hole in the wall. Nobody speaks English, but they do have an English menu tucked away if you just look stupid for a while. Then its order, pay and find a space to sit (if you can)... More

Executive summary Pros - Fresh dumplings, very cheap, tasty food, quick service Cons - Always a queue Note the location on tripadvisor map is incorrect. It is on Huanghe Lu number 90. Closest station being XinZha Rd (exit 5) or People's square (exit 8). Top tip - There is a Yang's fried dumpling opposite this shop - number 97 on... More

This is a very local restaurant. You pay first and then to grab a seat yourself and the staff will bring you your food. The xiaolongbao skin is very thin and the fillings are very tasty and juicy. Whats more is the price is very reasonable - 27rmb for a dozen of crab & pork xiaolongbao.

For dinner we had the pork and crab combination soup dumplings with the ginger. They were the only type of dumplings you could choose at dinner and they came out piping hot. Very delicious soup dumplings but you have to be careful when eating so you don't get soup on other people. Only eight tables, with two small ones by... More

Back in Shanghai again. My dear wife and I made a bee-line to Jia Jia's after we rubbed off a little jet-lag. We got there at noon and they were all out of the pork and the chicken XLB (cheapest one on the menu). That's ok, because we wanted the crab meat with pork ones anyway (actually wanted the crab... Fun, cheap little place to grab Xiao Long Bao. You'll need to crowd in with locals in the same space, and there may be a line. However, they do any amazing job of phase people's food, and only taking the next order when a table is ready. The tiles on the board indicate what types of XLB are still available.... More

Go as early as they open and you can get your pick of the xiaolongbao dumplings. Jia Jia is a bit of a hole in the wall but the taste and flavors are definitely a hole in one! So tasty and delicious! If you need a quick snack and are craving xiao long baos, this is the place to go... More
