We have had xiao long bao many times and many places. This is one of the best. It s a small place and that is all they make! We ordered 7 of those and we finished every one of them. Dont miss it. Its hard to find but we were staying at the Marriott hotel in city centre and it... More

I am no expert on soup dumplings, but I have been to Shanghai 5 times, and have tried them at various places, and these are my favourite. A caveat: I do not eat shellfish, so I didn't try everything on the menu.

You know a place is good when the line winds around the street and they sell out of the pork dumplings early! This small dive serves up tasty and piping hot soup dumplings in pork, crab, egg, and fish. Try to make it before 5PM as they often sell out of the pork! You get a basket of dumplings for... More

After doing the museum circuit I whipped out my phone and found directions to this little gem of a place. The thought of freshly made dumplings was too good to pass up. On arrival I chose the pork and crab as well as the egg and pork (2 servings, 1 hungry guy = 48 rmb). While I was waiting it... More

As stated in my title, Jia Jia Tang Bao is the best dumpling i ever tried in Shanghai. The skin of the Tang Bao is very thin and soup taste good too. Dip with ginger vinegar paste (need to purchase separately) is even more excellent. All Tang Bao is freshly made when ordered, that is the reason you need to... More

Nice dumplings, but surroundings may not be acceptable for most. Prices cheaper than din tai feng. Quality comes at a price.

Depending on the time you get there you will be in a queue. When I got to the counter I was pleasantly surprised that the lady taking orders could speak some English. I over ordered which was my fault as I thought you could mix them into 1 basket, so I ended up with 2 baskets of dumplings which was... More

I went to Jia Jia about 16 months ago and was very impressed with the dumplings and the simplicity of the place. Yes I had to queue and then wait for the dumplings to be freshly made and steamed but it was worth it. This time round, I took my partner as well and we were both disappointed. The dumplings... More

Xialongbao (aka juicy buns) are a specialty of this part of China. The ones I had at this restaurant rank among the best I had in China. The place is very popular with locals, expats and tourists. It appears in nearly all travel guides and when I went, half the people were foreigners. They are a bit on the expensive... More

Best xiao long bao ever! well worth the wait and the price! Will fly back to shanghai just for these. Must try the RMB99 crab roe dumping, but make sure you don't try to eat the whole portion by yourself - way too fattening.
