Great food...astonishingly slow service.

Being from Chicago (a city known for its blues), this was a surprising find when visiting Fiji. The food is quite good, with some interesting local ingredient substitutions. But the service...so....unbelievably...slow. If you're the only ones there (on our first occasion we were), it's... read more

Booked a table for 15 a few days ago for a 50th birthday lunch today - so they knew there was going to be a few of us. Arrived at 1pm - food arrived after 3pm. Food was pretty good - but not worth a 2 hour wait. And really - we were starving so we would have eaten anything.... More

Thank you for your honest review Jeff. Your title "Great Food...Astonishingly Slow Service". This issue we are working on, with ongoing staff training. I apologize for our tardiness, which is something I have been doing a lot lately. I can offer no excuses. It would have made me very happy to have fulfilled your "surprising find" with positive ticks. Just... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your honest review Evee. Your title "Wait Too Long" is echoed by several other reviewers, which we have addressed with our staff. Their has been a lack of communication with BOH and FOH to then let our customers know that there is a back log in the kitchen. Our wait staff are... More

Tucked between two other food outlets Baka Blues had a diverse menu available. Prices were a little high by Fijian standards but comparative to what was available locally for the same type of food. Service was fast, atmosphere pleasant. Will definitely return again.

Thank you for review of Baka Blues Cafe` Michelle. It is nice to know that on the day that you visited us, that our service was fast...based on previous reviews from unhappy customers there is that glimmer of hope that shone after meeting with our staff about the issue of "slow service". On the positive side the food is wonderful, place clean and a great location.... however down side only customers at 5.00 p.m. and took 50 minutes to get our food with no customer service from the wait staff might go back because the food was great but will plan on a very long wait to eat.

Oh dear, to read your title "Patience" just leaves me cold, Jim. 50 minutes to wait for your food, with no customer service...I find this quite incredible. Something does not line up. Did you ask to see the Owner or Manager to raise this issue? In my research on restaurants, yes, you can have the best restaurant, the best food,... More

If you want to take a break from traditional Fijian culture or even resort food this is a great place for a change in atmosphere. A New Orleans blues cafe right in the middle of traditional pacific Fiji. Food was very good, I didn't think it was particularly expensive for the quality and quantity and they make great chunky chips,... More
