Went to lunch here with a client. The place is very mom & pop buffet. The smoked rubbed ribs were worth the trip. The sausage was good but greasy and a bit salty. The BBQ Sauced ribs were not a big hit with me. The deserts were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The rest of the stuff... More

Some of the finest I've tasted anywhere in the Southeast US. I'd challenge anyone to find any better. Wow!

I had heard many raving compliments on this place and had an opportunity to stop by just at opening time. Saraland has got a rare gem hidden here. Among their many items, were some excellent sweet sauce wet ribs offered up with several amazing Southern comfort side items. This is a "gotta get it" kind of place. Completely down home... More

They talked me into getting the buffet instead of a slab of ribs. That was a great decision. Fresh food on the buffet, ribs included, Greens, sweet potatoes, fried chicken, sausage. All of it was great. Fresh cut watermelon for dessert. Friendly service, my tea was never more than an inch below the rim. Wish they were open on Sunday... More

The good news - generous portions of delicious BBQ. The bad news - closes at 7pm, so come early! Don't be fazed by the external appearance of this place. It's what's inside that counts, and you won't be disappointed. They seem to do more take-out than eat-in but we were treated graciously even though we were the only ones at... More

I have enjoyed J Rodgers BBQ for several years now. The recipes have not changed nor has the staff. I appreciate no surprises! The ribs are absolutely amazing. My favorite item has got to be the macaroni & cheese. The vegetables are superb as well. There isn't a single item on the menu that's store bought. The owner also has... More

Flavor exploded in my mouth. Loved the candied yams, sausage, coleslaw, ribs and fried chicken. Thank you Ms J, "Katherine Jackson" look alike "smile".

the sign on the building says soul food and it lives up to the name, great buffet, not open on Sundays is the only negative, best to go around lunch time and be early and watch the food come out, sometimes ribs have a lot of ends mixed in but sauce is great and the side dishes are like grandma... My wife and I stopped in at J. Rodgers on our way back from Orange Beach to St. Paul, Minnesota. What a great find. The food was inexpensive and so very tasty. We tried the pulled pork sandwich along with a couple of side dishes. Everything is made from scratch and you can tell it's quality. I just wish it... More
