We made reservations for the Wash House during a short trip to Fairhope. Apparently my husband used to take dates here during his bachelor days in Alabama. I can see why. It's a beautiful restaurant with a good wine list and knowledgeable servers. I had the crab cakes and the Wash House salad. My husband had gumbo and fish (which... More

Nice atmosphere and the food and wine were good. Wish I could say more but it was rather late in the evening when we went.

Pricey, but one of the few "good" restaurants in Pt. Clear. Great seafood in a funky, rustic old washhouse.

Atmosphere, food and wine list is the best on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. Chateaubriand is outstanding. However, you won't be disappointed as the menu runs deep.

We went to The Wash House last evening, Monday, June 9th. We sat in the Bar area and had an overall nice evening. The only frustrating part of the evening was that I had ordered their signature dish: Chateau Briand. Normally it's incredibly good. But last night it was served to me cold. Not the "medium rare" section....literally the whole... More

Sadly we had a bad evening Saturday night. For the last 15 years or so I have attended a meeting and one evening we eat here as a group. Our group meal on Thursday was fabulous, especially with such a large group. But I brought my family back on Saturday evening and for whatever reason, our waitress seemed flustered. From... More

It may not look like much on the outside, but it is a wonderful get-away and a romantic spot. The portions are right-sized; the average man won't leave hungry. You just won't get obscene amounts of food as one would find in most American restaurants. The quality is excellent, and the service is excellent. Try the steak...you won't be disappointed!

The service was slow. We had to ask twice for bread. The server did not know the answers to some of our questions. She was in a hurry the whole night and we had trouble getting her attention. The food was mediocre. We definitely would not return.

Off the beaten track so to speak, but a great little restaurant. It is in fact a converted wash house from pre-civil war days and was converted into a restaurant in the 20s. It has changed ownership 3 times and currently is owned by the Yarborough family. The ambience is quaint, the service attentive and cordial and the food was... More

Food with a cajun flare. Southern shabby-chic location. Always crowded. Great for date night! Perfect place for a nice long, well-savored dinner among friends and family. Loved the blackened cobia that I had. I do not eat beef myself, but my mother loved the filet. Will absolutely return to this little gem near the Grand Hotel in Point Clear.
