Johnny Ray's BBQ provides a fine meal at a great price. Your choice of sliced, pulled or chopped meat and three home made sides. If you in the area try this place!

Service was poor- here's why: I went into Johnny Rays in Pelham, for the first time tonight, to get carry out. I ordered 3 pork plates. There were only about 3 tables occupied in the restaurant. While waiting I browsed the menu, and saw a half pie was $10.99, and then also ordered a half pie to go. At the... More

We met up with some of my family to eat here. We didn't get into town until later that evening. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our table (we were the only ones there that late at night). The fried pickles were delicious! The portions are more than enough to eat and have for leftovers!

Typical bbq fair with no atmosphere all. It is a basic lunch, come-and-eat kind of place. The stars of the menu are the pies! All the pies are awesome. My favorite is the coconut. Worth a lunch visit.

Johnny Ray's has been around Birmingham, Jefferson & Shelby counties for many years. Try the 1/2 blond chicken - it is enough for 2 people. = and you get to order 3 sides with each order. Onion rings - yum!! They are extra or can count as 2 sides.

Ate at Johnny Ray's during an over nite stay in Pelham. We decided to try a local restaurant since we are not from the area and traveling through. We had 3 adults and a teenager in our party, we went on a Saturday. For an appetizer we ordered the loaded fries or whatever they where called. It was just frozen... More

The meats were ok, they put way to much sauce on them for our taste. If we go back we'll probably ask for that on the side. However, the side dishes all tasted homemade and the pies are excellent. The facilty was very neat and clean, seemed a little short on wait staff but overall positive experience.

You can smell the barbecue cooking before you see the restaurant and that's quite an invitation to stop in. The place is in a storefront in a newer strip mall. We tried the chopped pork sandwich and added slaw on top. They call it Texas style, but I'm from Florida and I frequently fix it that way. It's good barbecue.... More
