Good food with VERY slow service

I recently had the opportunity to eat at Johnny rays in Oak Mountain. All the food was very tasty, serve fresh and cooked order the service was incredibly slow. I was never offered a refill on my drink although I paid more than two dollars for it. For a sandwich, fries and drink the total bill was... read more

I have fond memories of Johnny Rays from my single days. So we stopped by and got some pies for a family gathering. The floor of the restaurant was sticky. The chocolate pie crust was woefully under baked and the lemon pie topping had an odd, metallic taste. Very disappointed.

Waitress was excellent. Kitchen was slow. Food was not hot. Barbecue pork smelled raunchy. Sent back. Replacement food was poor. Left a lot of it. Was afraid to eat it. Wont go back for sure.

Justed moved to Birmingham and love my BBQ. However, Johnny Rays is not a place I would ever return to. The brisket came back extremely dry so it was sent back. Ribs were drenched in BBQ sauce did not have a whole lot of good smoked bbq flavor. Macaroni and Cheese was good. Service was very slow. Baked beans tasted... More

I have been aware of Johnny Ray’s since their early years in Roebuck and a customer since their move to Homewood in the 1980's. Since this location opened I have tried numerous times to relive the "excellence in food, quality and service" that were the strong points of the Roebuck & Homewood locations. This location has NEVER measured up and... More

I have discovered, after the fact, that there are 2 Johnny Rays in Pelham. I went to the one by Oak Mountain not the one on Huntley Parkway, which is rated the # 6 restaurant in Pelham. So to be clear this review is of the Pelham Parkway restaurant. Now... Go to Huntley, don't go to Pelham Parkway. In a... More

Johnny Ray's BBQ provides a fine meal at a great price. Your choice of sliced, pulled or chopped meat and three home made sides. If you in the area try this place!

Service was poor- here's why: I went into Johnny Rays in Pelham, for the first time tonight, to get carry out. I ordered 3 pork plates. There were only about 3 tables occupied in the restaurant. While waiting I browsed the menu, and saw a half pie was $10.99, and then also ordered a half pie to go. At the... More

We met up with some of my family to eat here. We didn't get into town until later that evening. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our table (we were the only ones there that late at night). The fried pickles were delicious! The portions are more than enough to eat and have for leftovers!
