An Irish surprise!

I had heard that the Irish Bred Pub had good food but was reluctant to try it because I thought the food would be very different. Although the menu does include some Irish dishes that are not typical to Alabama there are many choices that anyone would be comfortable with. On my first visit I tried... read more

Nachos and a club sandy, their version, w fries. Chili on the nachos tasted like canned chili, lots on top, naked chips under. Club okay, certainly nothing special. Server: fair, definitely not a 20%er or for that matter 15%. 12%was the best tip I was willing to leave her. Probably try something else next time we're in the area

Great location in downtown Opelika on Railroad Avenue. Easy parking. I've tried many of the menu items but I usually go back to the Reubens or the Dover salad, both of which are excellent. Chicken fingers are plentiful and good. The bread pudding is also very good. They have draft beer, including Killians. Certainly worth at least one visit to... More

My husband and I enjoy the food here. The lunch special Monday-Friday, 1 meat and 3 vegetables is very good. All the vegetable we've had have good flavor. The Maytag chips are unlike any other Blue Cheese themed appetizer....SO GOOD! The only downfall is they have some loud/annoying swinging doors in the dining room that need to be hushed. Besides... The food here is good, the shrimp and grits are excellent. The restaurant itself is in an old storefront that has been renovated. The acoustics are a bit "hollow" so it is quite loud. The downtown/Railroad Avenue area is picturesque and there is a lot of activity. All in all, worth checking out.

Honestly, taking a southern low country food and schmearing the shrimp with Guinness BBQ sauce does not make it Irish. Shrimp has a delicate flavor and dousing it with BBQ sauce is criminal. More traditional Irish cuisine please.

Good sized portions, good sized beer, With friends having fun, we were a little confused about a women's softball tournament of the TV. But hey, we were in Alabama there is a limit to how far Irish goes. But as far as the food was far enough excellent fare.

We enjoyed the experience. We went with new neighbors however he loves different beers and we don't drink beer. Most of the food was fried and heavy on the calorie. We try to eat healthier. Not a fan of bar food, would have loved a healthier alternative.

The service was pretty good, nice and fast. The place looked like it was going to be an authentic irish pub like place... it was lacking some. The Food was decent, mac and cheese seemed to be box/frozen kind. Burger was good. Place needs a slight overhall/renovation to clean it up some. We will pick another restaurant next time we... More
