Not Bad

Average food. Price are reasonable. they serve baba nyonya food and the famous crackers. We had to wait for sometime before getting our food because the restaurant was full house.

Enjoyed dinner. Crowded with local families - mostly accompanying grand mothers/fathers who they respect - we love seeing these scenes that give travelers "at home" feeling. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Food tasted simple but authentic - local food served on the streets are sometimes too "local" or too spicy for us. Food served here are well refined in that... We had a table of 10 of us and being Peranakan, we had to have a peranakan food before leaving Malacca. There were more misses than hits. The sambal blacan and chin chalok omelette were very salty, ayam buah keluak and kiam chye duck watered down and Nonya chap chye so-so. The sambal petai, assam prawns and chendol were not... More

If you have been eating Nona in Singapore, you will know the good ones are also pricy. On this 1 day cruise stop in Malacca, the top priority was to eat Nyonya. The conceign at the Hatten Hotel recommended Mako or Ole Sayang. The latter sounds more authentic so we headed there, which is about 5 minutes walk from the... More

I decided to walk into this restaurant because other nyonya restaurants were closed for the day as it was the Winter Solstice Festival, while some have their rest days on Tuesdays. Anyway, I had to wait for more than 10 minutes to be seated, even though the captain of the restaurant saw my friend and I entered the establishment. She... More

We were there during the normal weekend where 2 buses of loaded secondary school student from outstation also having dinner. The main nyonya Ponteh Chicken tasted bland and the Otak dish is just simply lousy and not fresh (Even the Otak sold at the local market is even better in taste). Being a Malaccan we can balance the actual authenctic... More

I love the sambal terung since I first ate here in either 2004 or 2005. Last night I had the sambal terung again. Still great. The other dishes are nice too. But there are friends who told me it doesnt taste so good when there are tour buses stopping there for food.

We went there just to try out a few dishes because of we had an early dinner before this. Once we've set our order which are 2 main dishes and 3 cendols, this lady who i assumed she's the captain (due to her only special outfit), started to show unhappy expressions and even told us in bahasa melayu: "Har? Order... More

It was a blessing in disguise that the top rated restaurant we wanted to eat at was fully booked. We walked past Ole Sayang on the way to check into another hotel on our second day. You can't see the inside of the restaurant from outside so we decided to just walk in and see. Whoa! We did not expect... More
