very expensive for what you get, but I'd eat here again

This place is NOT cheap, and it seems the prices must have jumped pretty recently, because my B&B up the hill had given me a 'current Wildflower Cafe menu' but then when we arrived, it was not the current menu. We travelled with friends on bikes to Mentone just to eat at this café which we'd heard so much about. We went at lunch time. The house itself and the décor inside is unique and interesting. The mood is relaxed and peaceful. The staff, from making our reservations on the phone to the exit, was very friendly. There was even... More

We ate at the Wildflower for the first time on a misty early spring day. We were seated by a window with a nice view, and we both had the brunch sampler with the tomato pie, quiche, fruit and strawberry crepe. In addition we had sweet potato pancakes as an appetizer. The meal was scrumptious! I've never tasted anything as... More

The place was DIRTY. Let me explain why I say what I say. The table cloth was filthy! Food spots and dirty on the edges. The window where I was seated had food splatter on it. The table lamp had crud all over it. The lamp also had a DEAD bug mixed in with all of the dust. The walls... More

We planned a return trip, 2 hours out of our way, to allow lunch at the Wildflower. We were not disappointed. So many good options for me (gluten free). We started out with a "piece of quiche", listed as an appetizer, but really a full portion - no crust quiche - we tried spinach - and promptly ordered a serving... More

The menu is very complete - with a wide range of entrees. I have never had a bad meal! And if you are there on the weekend - they have entertainment - the Mentone Troubadore - Tonly Goggans performs on an array of instruments - often accompanied by local musicians and singers. His strength is entertainment - involving people in... More

My husband and I chose the Wildflower for our anniversary brunch since none of the restaurants in Mentone stay open for dinner on Sunday nights. We found the food to be tasty, even the small prime rib was more than I could eat in one setting. We did find the service to be a bit slow, though the wait staff... More
