Good food, local ingredients

We've had dinner, lunch, and Sunday brunch at 1892 East and have enjoyed it every time. We respect their dedication to local ingredients. For those who are Vegan or Vegetarian there are dishes to meet your dietary needs. Wine list good. Service good. There are plenty of tables that can handle... read more

Our group of four recently met at the 1892 East for a business lunch. We were promptly seated, and the service was great. After inquiring about the origin of the catfish on the catfish sandwich and learning the catfish was from Mississippi, I did order the beer-battered catfish sandwich which was the special of the day. The food arrived quickly.... More

I took my friend here for a birthday dinner. The menu sounded delicious online, and I like their philosophy of using locally grown produce, but I was a bit dissapointed. For an appetizer, we ordered the pig ears and pork skins. They were served piping hot with a side of ranch dressing. My friend ordered the chicken. It was chewy... More

The sweet potato doughnuts were the highlight. Complimentary mimosa for Sunday brunch was a nice treat. My husband had some sort of egg florentine dish and loved it. I had a frittata with spinach, tomato, and mozzarella cheese and it was flavorless and dry. It needed onions or something, and was cooked too long. Good friendly service.

Recently had dinner here for the first time with several friends. The food was okay for the most part, but not worth the money. I had the shrimp and grits and a Cesar salad. The salad was fine, but the shrimp was over cooked. (It's important to know that this isn't the typical "shrimp and grits" recipe in that it... More

Our extended family held an anniversary party here in their private room. The waitresses were pleasant and we were not rushed at all. The food for the most part was good; frittatas, waffles, chicken and egg dishes were very good. The French toast I had was coated with spent grain which was so-so for me. The coffee was wonderful delivered... More

I went for lunch today and found the food to be tasty with different food combinations than the same old, same old. Like mushrooms? They have a couple mushroom dishes on the menu and the always loved, Fried Green Tomatoes. The prices are in line with the food served. I did not feel I was overcharged.

I happened on this place because of the flourless torte. But, I like everything I have experienced here this evening. My GPS wasn't hitting it so I called and Maddie "walked" me in very patiently. I arrived inside an hour of close so I didn't want to take a table. Trisha, the bartender was knowledgeable (especially since she has only... More

I came here with my mom and my dad for supper. I can't remember the name of the appetizer we got, but they were fried cheese balls with jalapeños inside and a sweet jalapeño sauce. It. Was. Devine. We all LOVED it! I had the Chicken Rotini. It was delicious! I loved it! My dad had the Trout and he... More

I'm tired of the over priced, poorly prepared food and the awful, poorly trained servers. I have been a dozen times and will not make the mistake again. I live just a few blocks away and friends always say, "let's just go down to 1892" and then we always say, "why did we do that again". Great location, nicely decorated,... More
