Great country cooking

Blue Plate Cafe is a wonderful place to go if you are looking for good country cooking. The hash brown casserole is amazing as it the cornbread!

For starters my waitress Michelle didn't know if the pork chop (special on Wednesday) was breaded and fried, or breaded then baked then fried but "everybody loves it". When I sked about the mac & cheese, whether just mac w cheese sauce or baked like grandma's (which they pride themselves on being like old time recipes) she sied she had... More

I am sorry you had a bad experience. The server you speak of is new, and I appreciate your feedback about her knowledge of our menu. Our pork chops are breaded and baked, and our macaroni and cheese is made with a homemade cheese sauce. Both are very popular items at our restaurant, I am sorry they didn't seem to... More

We call this type restaurant a meat and three in my hometown. Went with a local resident and she promised the meatloaf was great. While it was tasty it was far from great -- seems like the topping was just ketchup. The broccoli casserole was heavy on cheese and rice and light on broccoli. The best thing was their rolls... Have been here about five times, each time they have been packed and the food is always great. Two of the times I had business travelers with me from out of state. They both commented that it was an excellent meal. Better to get there as early as possible for lunch. They turn tables pretty fast, but the closer to... More

Found this spot on Tripadvisor and it was definitely worth the visit. We had breakfast. The food was excellent and staff was outstanding. Would definitely go back again.

I have been to this restaurant several times, but it hasn't ever been that stellar a performer for me. For example, I have had their turnip greens just about each time I've been there and they have been poorly cooked each time. They are always stringy and undercooked and with little or no taste. One of those cases where if... More

Breakfast? Excellent! Lots of choices, and all that we tried were delicious. Pancakes, eggs, biscuits, breakfast meats with choices of regular or turkey (including bologna). I've returned several times, and it's always consistently good. Recently I tried lunch and enjoyed the fried chicken. My husband loved the meatloaf. The green beans? Meh. Unless you like them overcooked & mushy, which... More

It has the same daily specials on the menu forever.. It's hard to find a REAL Country Fried Steak with White Gravy---and they don't have it either! Their cobbler is terrible, can peaches and mush and it is on the menu several days. Fried Okra Spicey . Now for the good stuff--The best Day for Dessert is only Monday and... More

My office does breakfast here about once a quarter. The food is always good and the staff is very efficient. The menu based on standard southern fair (eggs, meats, potatoes, biscuits, pancakes) with a couple of healthy options thrown in.
