This is my favorite place for seafood in the Birmingham/Hoover Metro area. The gumbo is great; as good or better than what you can get at the Gulf. Seafood is always very fresh. Their slaw is especially good. Only negative is that the portions are small for the price.

Yes, this isn't on the beaten path BUT this should be on your beaten path...the food is extraordinary from the perspective of what you think should be happening there versus what does happen there...no, the ambiance isn't the best...yes, it is in a stip mall...yes, it's small...however, these are good things...better things are the food!...this stuff is great...the service is... Was there last night and the service was good but the food was excellent. I had shrimp and grits - simply a great dish for appetizer. Their grouper fingers are outstanding and I try to have some every time I visit. We also had fried shrimp, seafood gumbo, and slaw. All was excellent. I have never had anything that was... More

we were here for lunch, and seated ourselves. there was nothing bad, nor was there anything great. I got a shrimp poboy, and it was just average. the service was somewhat slow, and the server seemed to be going through the motions, but not with much passion. the prices were OK. after reading other reviews, I expected the place to... If you like southern Louisiana cuisine, don't miss Jubilee Joe's! There are great appetizers, such as shrimp and grits, raw and chargilled oysters, and fried green tomatoes (with lump crabmeat and Dijon mustard sauce). Gumbo, red beans and rice, and crawfish etoufee (with a golden spicy, not tomato, sauce) are also available. Then there are the platters, including, crawfish, gator... More

There were many dishes to choose from. We each had something different and shared. All were good. Will go back when in the area again and try others.

I love this place! I found out about it here recently. There is not a lot of places that sells crawfish besides Joe's crab shack!!! They sell crawfish by the pounds! The prices were awesome! I got 3lbs of crawfish for $20, were I bought 1 lb of crawfish at Joe's crab shack for $17.99. they have everything you can... More

Jubilee Joe's is the best cajun food I have had outside of New Orleans. After one time, you will be hooked! I come once a week (or every other week) because I can't get enough of the food and EXCELLENT service. Eva, our usual server, is the BEST. She always remembers what we like to order and our little extra... More

I gave a "very good" rating because the crawfish were very good. The only thing is, the portions are small and the prices are large. After my son ate his crawfish plate with a side of potatoes $16.00, he had to stop on the way home at Wendy's.
