Neat Concept -- Average Meal

Looking for unique eating experience while driving through south Alabama, came upon Bates House of Turkey. Sounded interesting. Sure enough, they pretty much serve turkey. Being lunch time, I didn't order a meal, but instead a sandwich and sides. I thought -- 'smoked turkey', bet they do that... read more

But it was not. Ordered the Turkey and Dressing. The meal came with two sides, cranberry sauce, rolls and cornbread. For my sides I ordered squash casserole and butter beans. The sides were both very good as was the bread. I wish I could say the same for the turkey and dressing, but both were just bad. The turkey appeared... More

Being lunch time, I didn't order a meal, but instead a sandwich and sides. I thought -- 'smoked turkey', bet they do that good!' The sandwich was average, the turkey flavoring also average. Just a random gas stop on a very long road trip, around lunchtime, and our dining options in Greenville included about every fast food chain, and this little place, Bates Smoked Turkey. (We'd seen a billboard earlier on the road.) We went in not knowing what to expect, but figuring it would be better than the other options, and left... More

My husband and I went there for lunch the other day and ordered their Hickory Smoked Turkey Sandwiches (one regular size and another off the kid's menu) + 2 soda drinks and a slice of a Key Lime Pie. The total price for the meal was a little over $19. When asked if we wanted mayo and lettuce on our... More

Second visit just as good as the first. This legendary establishment earns all the awards. Excellent meal, very responsible prices, friendly staff. Can't to order a turkey this Thanksgiving.

We visit Bates House of Turkey 4 - 6 times a year. In fact we plan our trips up and down Alabama Interstate 65 so we arrive in Greenville when it's time to eat! We've always enjoyed the turkey and dressing meals! Highly recommended!

Only 1 car in the parking lot Friday afternoon day after Thanksgiving should have been the sign. This place is SO BAD I don't know where to begin and if I do, where I will stop! This is not a typical ORDER FROM THE TABLE restaurant. I won't even go into the filth. Girl at the counter expressed attitude of... More

Stopped here on the way to the Gulf Coast. I purchased the turkey dinner plate with green beans and potato salad as my sides. The only thing lacking was the potato salad. It was edible but not great like the rest of the meal, Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal as well.

Simply Delicious! We always make a stop here to get some smoked turkey...whether it's meal time or to have it later, we've always been glad we made the stop!!! And we also stock up on the Turkey Jerky...a great snack!
