We grew up in Mississippi, where fried catfish and hush puppies are the unofficial state dish (as native to Mississippi as Cajun food is to Louisiana). Someone recommended we try Top O' The River while we were in Gadsden. We were impressed. We both had the 1/2 pound catfish platter, which included cornbread, some delicious pickled onions, cole slaw, hush... More

The restaurant has a large menu. If you like seafood you should be able to find something you like. The back of the restaurant has a covered patio that is right on the water. It was closed in December, but would be a fantastic place to eat.

Haha i dont eat seafood. But the chicken strips were so hot fresh and delicious. My fiance loved the catfish plate. All the food was hot. They were super busy and our waitress still made time to wait on us! Great service

Surprised I went, I don't like catfish since they are nasty and all. However I love greens and cornbread and it's done very well here! Price not bad but way overcrowded and feel rushed. Service was overwhelmed but consistent and understood why. Kids loved it. Great event location

I recently tried this place, and it was so amazing that I went back the next week. The first time everything was perfect, but the second time my catfish was severely burnt. I told the waitress, and she was very polite about it and said that she would have the cook remake it immediately. She even brought out some other... More

We visited this restaurant after reading the Tripadvisor reviews and unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meals. They offer large serving sizes but the food is poor quality. We ordered Fried Pickles to share before the meal and the waitress had to take them back they were so overcooked. For dinner both our grilled and fried shrimp were overcooked... More

If you are looking for a good meal and fish, you're in luck. Get a pot of greens as an appetizer. It will be served with slaw, cornbread and pickled onions, which accompany the entree. The specialty is fried catfish, which is very good. I prefer the broiled catfish for a lighter selection. It is very good.

People travel from near and far to eat here. Best cornbread and slaw around. If you have a large party, this is the place to come.

They have our favorite Turnip greens, pickled onion, slaw and cornbread! My shrimp tonight was over cooked and hard to peel. My feet kind of stuck to the floor going in and coming out. The restroom was atrocious! Come on folks with the amount of business you have can't you update your facility?? Basically an average meal for this setting.

Looked up reviews & we were not disappointed with our experience at this restaurant! Get there 1/2 hour before opening to get seated! We were finished with our wonderful meal 45 minutes after ordering. Service was great! Slaw & cornbread were awsome! Catfish was perfectly fried! Nothing was greasy. Hubby had shrimp, equally great! It was a fantastic meal for... More
