Unique Gulf Coast experience

Went to this restaurant in historic building in downtown Foley for an event and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the buffet. Good food, good service, unique atmosphere and a far cry from the typical fried fish joints along the gulf. Something different.

The Gift Horse in Foley AL is a great place for a wonderful buffet away from all the chain restaurants! Located in a building 100 years old it offers a quiet atmosphere and has an array of delicious Southern foods from crawfish bisque, salads, entrees, to desserts. I visited today for the first time, but I can assure you it... More

Try the crayfish bisque. It's the single most amazing soup I've ever tasted. Charming décor. Great service. Southern favorites on the buffet like fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and gumbo. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back with friends and family.

Have been here many times but, sad to say, this last visit was a bust. the HOT food was not HOT - the cornbread muffins were old(to my taste) and the fried chicken was greasy - the only GREEN hot vegetable was green beans with potatoes and there was no seasoning. The only redeeming thing was that the salad bar... More

We have visited this restaurant every year when in the Gulf Shores area. It is truly a unique and special dining experience. A lot of history in this building. The food is always very good. Must try the seafood soup and the apple cheese casserole!

We arrived at 11 AM, the opening time and were the first customers. The restaurant is in a 100+ year old building and has a great atmosphere with lots of wood and nice decor. They have a large salad bar with many different salads other than the usual garden salad. The main buffet has a variety of main courses and... More

This was the absolute worst meal my family and I've ever eaten. It's a buffet filled with cold food. I should've known when the cook was poring water into the dishes, the food was bad. The price at 4 o'clock was $16.95 per person and the tea was an additional $2.25. I've said nothing about the fly in the dessert...

Late Sunday lunch. Seafood buffet with plenty of southern favorites. Crab salad, shrimp salad, crawfish bisque, seafood gumbo, and cheese grits. Mom was happy, so everyone's happy! As an extra bonus right now (June 2015) they are doing 2 for 1 if you bring a church bulletin on Sunday or Monday!

We have been coming here for over 20 years and love to bring out of town visitors. The building is over 150 years old and the wood paneling and history of the structure is fascinating. The buffet is loaded with salads and southern favorites. We like to arrive at opening, before the crowds come. Hope you find it as delightful... More
