We ate an early dinner (4:30ish) on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and the food was good. Try the fried biscuits, bisque, and cheese apples (yes, cheese apples). The fried shrimp was also good.

On a recent trip to the Gulf area, we visited Foley for the day. One of my friends suggested that we eat lunch at The Gift Horse Restaurant, as she had eaten there several years ago, and enjoyed her dining experience. On the day we ate lunch there we were very disappointed. The first sign something was wrong was the... More

First time eating at Gift Horse was and experience that you will rember for life. Very good food and service was off the chart. Simple buffet but the flavors of the food is excellect. Fried chicken was very good, crawfish bisque was better than any I have ever tasted. Salad and desert bar were also very nice. THIS IS A... More

The first time we went to this restaurant, we enjoyed it. However, the last several times has not been very good at all. They have a great selection and atmosphere but the taste of a lot of their dishes needs improving. Due to the difference, we wondered if the restaurant had changed hands or something.

This is the 3rd time we've been to The Gift Horse. We stumbled on it 5 years ago completely by accident. It looked like an inviting place, so we went in. Now when we are in the Foley area, we go for lunch. The lunch buffet is $12.99 and well worth it. The food is excellent and the fried biscuits... More

We heard about their deal where 2 eat for price of one with your church bulletin on Sunday and Monday. We came on a Monday at lunchtime. Not crowded at all (compared to what we heard about on Sundays). Buffet was beautiful and the food plentiful. We tried everything and all we had was good. Our server was great, very... More

Our tour guide told us she was going to take us to a unique, historic restaurant when we arrived in Foley, and said she thought our group of six would love it. She led us into The Gift Horse, and after looking at the cornucopia of food lavishly spread all over that magnificent 24-foot long table, we started agreeing with... More

Wife and I stopped in Foley after a long day of golf and knew where we wanted to dine. The Gift Horse of course. We've been here before and looked forward to our meal. I must say we were not disappointed. The food was better than remembered and the service perfect. I enjoy the atmosphere and usually take small portions... More

The exterior tenant history plaque of the Gift Horse prompted us to try this mid-size Southern buffet. The interior certainly compliments its' architectural past. There was a plentiful assortment of salads, proteins, veggies and desserts. Could there have been more imaginative ways for the offerings? Yes. But, for the price, we found the food to be both satisfying and straight-forward.

Awesome buffet....visited last time we were in Gulf Shores ( few months ago). We'll be headed up to eat again today. The food is wonderful, with a great variety. I can't say enough about the service and atmosphere.....feels like you're going back to an earlier, more elegant era. We will definitely visit every time we are in Gulf Shores, which... More
