This was where my soon to be boss took me when I came to Decatur for my job interview. All of the food is really great, you can see why they have been grand champions for Memphis in May a record number of times. My favorite is the turkey with white sauce either in a sandwich or one of their... More

Every time (and I mean EVERY TIME) I'm in Alabama, I stop at Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Que in Decatur. Its a family tradition. My family has been dining here since the early 1960's. We live in California now, but make it back to Alabama to visit family or a semi-regular basis. While Big Bob Gibson's is not a fancy dining... More

Stopped here with the family on our way to South Alabama. I had the RIbs and Pulled Pork. Delicious. Both the World Champion Red and Original White BBQ Sauces are Spectacular!!! I had never had white BBQ Sauce. It was tangy and sweet. I loved it. Sides were OK, but not as great as the main course. FYI, my wife... More

We arrived around 8:15 pm for dinner and noticed they appeared to be cleaning up - however we were told to find a seat. Only later did we find they closed at 8:15 - I totally appreciate their hospitality even though we were coming in during their closing time (we didn't know their hours!). We had seen lots of reviews... More

The packaged meal included smoked chicken with a little of both the traditional red BBQ sauce and some of the white BBQ sauce, baked beans, a corn bread muffin, and potato salad. They also brought in 3 different meringue pies for the group - I had the chocolate. The smoked chicken was perfectly done - still juicy and definitely not... More

My family dined gor lunch at Big Bob Gibson's. Choosing a sampler plate that included smoked pork ribs, brisket, chicken, and turkey I had plenty for lunch and carry-out for home. My sides were cole slaw and baked beans. All superb. The ribs were perfect as were the other entrees. The sauce was so very good we took home bottles... More

World champion BBQ is not what you get here. It's restaurant BBQ with a world champion name. Husband had salivated for 6 years wanting to try the Godfather of BBQ's offerings. Servings were hearty, but who wants lots of dry chicken and mushy pulled pork. Wish we had tried Whitts, like several locals encouraged us to do.

I agree with the last review. This place has average food with great service. We walked in to come face to face with Grand Champion trophies for Memphis in May lining the wall. Impressive. What I got on my plate was not. To be fair, if I was presented my choice like a judge at a competition I'll bet its... More

I have read about this place for a while and was excited to finally eat here. When you enter you are greeted by many 5 foot tall trophies of various competitions they have won. My visit however was a mixed bag. I ordered the assorted meat plate so I could taste a few items. The turkey was some of the... More

On our 9 day vacation through Alabama and Tennessee, we tried 4 different BBQ places and this was definitely not the best. The chicken was very dry, even with the white sauce on it. The ribs and pork are just average. Service was good though!
