These are the best hushpuppies I have ever had....in addition to absolutely delicious fried red snapper, friend catfish etc etc. I have taken to buying a large order of hushpuppies to eat with our chili on cold days. YUM!!!! Everyone is very friendly and it is a great local hangout. =)

This venerable old establishment - the original was started around 1961 - is closing and the place is being auctioned off. It is currently operated by the grandchildren of the original owner, and their health is forcing them to auction off the restaurant Dec. 4. Eat now and enjoy....and era is closing!

Warning! Closed on Sunday and Monday and they don't accept checks! McCollum's is the place to go if you want some fresh seafood, mostly fried and tasty! Unpretentious; same help/servers for probably decades in some cases. Regular locals who flood in from the country which is a good sign. Just good fried catfish, hush puppies, fries, baked potatoes, oysters, shrimp,... More

Been around forever. Catfish is crisp and so good. Shrimp good too. Baked Potates fresh and soft. Good sweet tea and great hush puppies.

We would go again, but just order the catfish. The baked potato was dry & old tasting, so I'd stick with the fries. Qur server was very good & kept us all in beverages.

Excellent whole catfish, as good or better than most other catfish joints in the area. Hushpuppies were fat and greasy, not particularly flavorful. Slaw was ok, service a bit slow, tables greasier than they should be, but then again, its a fried catfish place.

Not bad but not good just average, expensive for the quality, the fish was to greasy, I think they are operating off their old reputation. not what it used to be.

We visited my family in Alabama and asked them to take us out for real southern seafood. They chose McCollum's and it was wonderful There were 12 of us and we ordered a big variety of items from the menu. Everyone was delighted with their choices - everything from fried oysters, broiled shrimp, catfish, hush puppies, to chicken. It is... More

Being from south Louisiana , I would have to say that the food is not that great. My wife and I both ordered the seafood platter. The whole fried catfish does not pull away from the bone that easily. The oysters were over fried and the shrimp looked like they were smashed with a hammer before being fried. It's all... More

Have eaten here going on 40 years and that say a lot. I always get the large seafood plate and its unbelievably great. The seafood shrimp and oysters are super fresh; not the frozen thickly breaded variety. Crab cake is very good also. I always start with a half order of crab claws which is not even listed on the...
