"The green-grilled mishti shop at 56 Ramdulal Street is simply called Nakur, short and (very) sweet. Peering through the iron, glasses perched on his nose, Victor picks up one of their best-selling items, Jol Bhora Norom Pak, gives them a thumbs up, and gulps down the sandesh. From a two-item menu consisting of Kada Pak and Monda back in 1844, to 2010 where Chocolate Sandesh can compete for the number one spot, Nakur has come a long way." -- The Telegraph.

Quality leadership over the generations

They offer the best selection of traditional Bengali sweets and have been doing so for generations. A great reputation well deserved.

One of the very best sandesh specialists. Worth travelling through the North Calcutta traffic to buy sweets here. I do not, however, know of any restaurant attached to the shop.

Everyone visiting Kolkata from other states is aware of "Misti Doi" and "Rosogolla". But very few know that this city is also famous for a type of sweet delicacy called "Sandesh". The sweet meat shop styled as Girish Chandra Dey & Nakur Chandra Dey located at north Kolkata near Hedua and Bethune College is famous for soft sandesh. They prepare... More

The Nolen Gur-er sandesh in winter months or even the normal sandesh's in other months of the year is very tasty. It is bit expensive but worth it. Service from staff is polite and great.

I liked their traditional way to serve. You seat on a white bedspread on the floor over mattress. you need to seat your legs folded and enjoy the delicious sweets. Their jolbhora is the best. It's a shop. Not a restaurant.

Girish Chandra Dey and Nakur Chandra Nandy, fondly known as Nakur, is one of the oldest sweet shops in North Kolkata. It is one of the few institutions that has retained its dignity and heritage and continues to provide exquisite fare. Its signature sweets and some pathbreaking combines still continue to amaze. If one is in the North of the... More

Yes. Modern retail doesn't really explain this bad behavioiur of a shop. But it's excepetion - and the people ( shop sales person and the owners) enjoy this too. Sandesh is the hit item. And in winter season - NALEN GURER SANDESH. Jalvora Talsash ( NOROM PAAK) you should try.

Very good quality of sweets they make but more of Sandesh and other dry sweets but nothing in syrup, it's obnoxiously priced.
