"The green-grilled mishti shop at 56 Ramdulal Street is simply called Nakur, short and (very) sweet. Peering through the iron, glasses perched on his nose, Victor picks up one of their best-selling items, Jol Bhora Norom Pak, gives them a thumbs up, and gulps down the sandesh. From a two-item menu consisting of Kada Pak and Monda back in 1844, to 2010 where Chocolate Sandesh can compete for the number one spot, Nakur has come a long way." -- The Telegraph.

Good Sweets but very highly priced

This is possibly the oldest sweet shop in Kolkata. Serves delicious sweets but very disorganised and they dont issue a cash memo. You will find people shouting their lungs out for their order and only one or two people behind the counter. Not hygienic at all as you can see people in the shop roaming... read more

This is probably the oldest sweet shop in Kolkata and definitely the best. If you are in Kolkata then this is the place you must visit. Authentic bengali sweets. Their 'chandrapuli' and 'parijat' are a must try. Their chocolate sandesh and butterscotch sandesh are also doing well.

Kolkattans are just crazy about this shop. Talk to any Bengali about sweets and the first name that comes on their lips is Girish Chandra Dey & Nakur Chandra Nandy. It has a avid history to it. Though the location of the shop is hard to reach, but trust me, the "Chocolate Sweets" are worth any price! they also do... More

This sweet shop must be visited by anyone who loves Bengali sweets. It specializes in one item - sandesh (or sondesh). It sandesh is fresh, delicate, and not very sweet. Supposedly (according to Calcutta Walks guide), the proprietors control the entire supply chain, all the way to the cows who produce the milk that goes in their delectable sweets. When... More

NAKUR is NOT a restaurant. It is a Bengali sweet shop. It should not be ranked in restaurant catagory.
