Experimental Bengali Cuisine

Marrying cuisines, if done write can be an experience worthy of heaven. While not quite that, Bohemian makes a decent attempt. It marries Bengali food with experiments from around the world. So you'd have a steak in Bangla sauces and panna cottas with tobacco infusion. But they pull them off, as... read more

During the last few years whenever I visited Kolkata, my friends there had asked me to try out this place which according to them was refreshingly different. I was told that the menu has imaginative experimentation of fusion with specifically traditional Bengali cuisine. Though the concept looked extremely interesting, I could finally visit this restaurant only during my trip in... More

Just fantastic. Chef Joy has really done a great job of bringing out the best of Conti and Bengali food. Delicious , innovative and light on the stomach/wallet. Waiting to gp back on my next visit to Kolkata

Food here is very out of the box.It is hard to imagine the menu. Its a fusion of Benali and Continental cuisine. All the items we had were just too good. The crab item was simply out of this world.I would recommend everyone to atleast go once there.

Just amazing - they experimented with Bengali food - fusion of Bengali and Continental food, and some amazing outcome. Most of their items are amazing - you need to keep on trying each of them till you arrive at which is the best one. I remember going to this place first time just after it opened, and has been a... Took my family for a memorable Christmas dinner at one of the most talked out dining options at South Kolkata which is Bohemian. If you are visiting there first time two things will drag your attention; one is unique decoration at entrance and after entering the small size of the restaurant. They have sitting provision at first floor too. Inside... More

I had reviewed this restaurant some 2 years ago and returned to find it has now changed. Thankfully the decor only! Gone is the pop art and rock memorabilia , now there are stark pictures from Ladakh. The number of tables too seem to have reduced. The quirky combinations and the superb starters still continue as does the excellent service.... More

Bengalis take their food seriously and in the ideal world do not like when the traditional recipes are 'touched'. But, at Bohemian - the avant grade restaurant in Kolkata - they serve Bengali Food with a 'major twist' - aka. experimentation. Chef Joy Banerjee - has been bold enough to create fusion Bengali cuisine - mixing and matching contrasting tastes,... More

We were six of us, including a teenager and a nine year old..each ordering a separate dish..It took fifteen -twenty minutes to serve us. All of us were happy with the food. The restaurant has more space now.. You may still need to book a table in advance. I wish the chef the best of luck for his experiments.

My first visit to Kolkata and i'm sold, on the place, the food and the weather!( we travelled in December). One of the highlights was our meal at Bohemian. It was spectacular. We also had a traditional meal at a very famous local restaurant in the area too but the meal at Bohemian just hit the spot. The crab soufflé... More
