I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and there was a great selection of veg food. Beware if you go on a holiday - you might get stuck with an expensive (but tasty) buffet.

Brilliant place to satisfy your hunger if you are tired of roaming around the streets and shopping throughout the day. But it is so popular that you must make a reservation if you want to avoid waiting..

being solo, the service given was not up to the mark. The food quality was average. Deserts were better than the main course.

If you want to have authentic bengali food this is the place to go. Though the restaurant is a bit squeezed for space the food is very tasty and balanced. The cost is a bit on the higher side but would not mind to pay it for the quality of the food served. I would definitely refer this place but... More

The restaurant is small and quite closely packed. So really one goes here for the food mainly. As it is quite popular, booking for a table in advance is highly recommended. The food is certainly very authentic and most importantly does not douse every dish with chilies. Thus the taste buds can appreciate the different delicate flavors intrinsic to Bengali... More

Very good taste. Quite costly. Cooks in a typical Bengali way. And better than 'Bhajaharimanna' in terms of value for money.

I'd asked my Bengali friend to take me to an authentic Bangla food experience, & as his wife was abroad, he took me to dinner at this famous Restaurant at Ballygunge Place. It is housed in a typical upper middle-class Bengali mid-20th century Bungalow, with the seating spread across several rooms. There was a 'Baithak' outside in the yard -... More

Doi Pona is a must apart form that Hilsa in mustrad gravy will take your senses to ninth cloud. The mustard chutney served with fried prawns was awesome.

Being a Bong and belonging to a family of excellent cooks who effortlessly sum up complicated and almost obscure dishes with comparative ease, perhaps is extra critical of Bengali cuisine. I do not like to try Bengali food outside home for the simple reason that they fail to measure up. However, there are circumstances when I need to entertain acquaintances/guests... More

Had a good meal here with my wife last month and it was a nice experience. Though very near to the chaotic restaurants and food joints of City Centre, Salt Lake this place was quite empty and we did not have problem in seating. The service was prompt and the food were tasty. We had taken two non veg thalis... More
