Do not go there. Waste of time, money as well as energy. The once famous nizam is now not even good enough to compete with street side vendors selling rolls. From undercooked paranthas to undercooked kebabs, they have them all. Biriyani was disgusting. They place is filthy and so are the surrounding area. Stay away. Like you could go there... More

Nizam's kathi rolls are legendary. Since this was behind my hotel I went to get a take out. The mutton kebabs were tough and not succulent. Biryani was more like a pulao with one large piece of bone and some meat on it. OK this is not a fancy place and not for fine dining but I think the kathi... More

My husband and I loved Nizams rolls.we grew up with the Late Momin Chacha taking cae of us with his personal attention to our pteferances. After him, we continued to patronize it but alas our last visit in September 2014 was so alarmingly poor that we may not venture there again. I ordered for the usual Chicken Kathi kebab and... More

I had to try this place out, it's a very famous snack bar in Calcutta. The kathi rolls are excellent.

What can you say about the inventor of seekh roll? Started visiting this place during college days (late seventies) when budget was low and appetite high. Was extremely lucky and am thankful to my college mate who insisted on visiting here. The old charm remains even though ownership has changed. Started off with what else - the seekh roll. Followed... They claim to be the inventors of Kathi roll, and if you are in Nizam's, that should be an automatic choice on your platter. The soft chicken/mutton flavours give your taste buds a variation. Also try out their Biryani and Kulfi. Great food at a reasonably low price.

Their Dal Makhani is different from what we get in North India. Its very thick. Be careful of the quantity. In packing the waiter gave us just half plate for Rs 100 (+5 for container). We had to fight with the cashier to give a decent quantity as per the price charged. Their tandoori rotis & paneer roll were good.

Loved eating at Nizam's. We went here three nights out of the five that we stayed in Kolkata. Food quality was top notch. The best tandoori roti I had in India. Great chicken tikka. Pretty much every dish was spot on. This place is no-frills, but clean. You can watch them cooking the kebabs and making parathas in the kitchen.... More
