First try at Kolkata-style biryani

Honestly, I wasn't terribly impressed by my first try of Kolkata-style biryani, but that may just be my own lack of taste! I felt it was too mild. However, I absolutely loved the burra kebab -- soft and tasty -- and the shahi tukra was delightful. Good location.

Went there to taste the legendary Kathi Kebab Rolls ... and were not disappointed. The rolls were encased in a crisp batura like roll and the chicken inside was delicious. Asked for a mint chutney accompaniment and was informed that all the flavours were already inside the roll. Took a bite and yummy !!! ... the flavours hit all the... More

It was the place for mainstream muslim gentlemen and cosmopolitan associates. College students ventured here what Vivekananda though them that smoking from other cast's hookah does not spoil one's soul. They always succeeded. It then became brittle and vulnerable, too much strikes, close outs and fall outs of those. Then we have Nizam again but beef less. But then they... More

Kolkata's legendary kathi kebab and roll house. An old restaurant in the city of Joy. Location: Hogg Market, Esplanade Specialty: Kathi Roll Service: Average but acceptable Ambiance: Average but OK given the locality and set up. Price: Relatively Cheap. Used to be a premier food destination but in decline off late. However, one of the best serving restaurants of Kathi... More

We went there for lunch and had a chicken and mutton egg kothi roll. Delicious - well cooked chicken and mutton marinated with onions and lemon, green chilis on paratha. Throughly satisfying and only 70 rupees a piece (little more than 1 US dollar) I've had far less satisfying lunches for 20 x the price. In the New Market area... More

The Nizams in Kolkata crafted the concept of rolls for the first time in India. That was way back in the late late 60's. Today rolls, in every imaginable form is made and sold all over the world. Entrepreneurs who took the idea of making rolls have made a killing, since rolls sell faster than burgers. Nizams rolls today, still... More

Their chicken and mutton rolls are fab stuff. Approach to the place or even the place isn't great. But food is good. Do enjoy and check my click! Drool!

Do not go there. Waste of time, money as well as energy. The once famous nizam is now not even good enough to compete with street side vendors selling rolls. From undercooked paranthas to undercooked kebabs, they have them all. Biriyani was disgusting. They place is filthy and so are the surrounding area. Stay away. Like you could go there... More
