food is ok but over priced. It may be authentic alright but it too but the thali was too much for a single person and they would not let you share it.

We ordered Shukto, Mochar Ghanta, Postor Bada and Hilsha fish curry in mustard sauce. I still remember the taste. We had late lunch that day , 15th Feb 2014, started at 2pm and we are the last one to leave almost at 4pm.

We had our lunch in this restaurant on 15th Feb 2014. Since my wife is pure vegetarian, we ordered Bengali Shukto, Mochar Ghanto and Barishal Hilsha in mustard curry for myself. Food was superb and our bill was Rs 2100 plus.

Two years ago we had the best meal of our trip at this restaurant. Last night we had one of the worst--and the most expensive. What happened?

The food and service is quite good but not as compared to prices. Just think twice with your pocket before planning a visit. Final comment : Not worth for money.

I understand that Calcutta is not exactly one of the world's culinary centres but that does not excuse the stuff we were served at Aaheli. I had the worst mutton curry I have ever had anywhere in the world. The meat was on the bone, chewy and tough - I left 75% of the meat. The rice was nice. My... More

This is my first negative review of any restaurant in India. Aaheli was much-hyped as the "original" Bengali cuisine place in Kolkata, which is now teeming with many Bengali joints. Since we were at Oberoi next door, we walked in for lunch. At the insistence of the staff, we ordered the Eelish-thali - their top item. The quantity and spread... More

As another reviewer wrote - it's very touch for a Bengali to review a Bengali restaurant! Of course, my mom's cooking will always be the best! But if you want to sample pure Bengali cuisine outside the house go to Aaheli! The Eelish is superlative ( even my mom enjoyed it ), the sukto & pui saager chochori, potoler dolma... More

Aaheli is a restaurant located inside Peerless Inn-a 4 star hotel situated in the most centralized part of Kolkata- ESPLNADE.it is very spacious and well managed by professional staff. As soon as you enter, you will be warmly greeted by a smiling staff wearing traditional bengali dress like dhoti and punjabi or saree as the case may be with a traditional bengali...
