The food is good, as it has been for over the past decade that I've been visiting this restaurant. The staples like the 'BANANA DOSA' are brilliant, and always have been. I like to avoid the chicken dishes here as they rarely are as good as the seafood. Post prandial coffee is always very good. But I'm bored of the... More

A business associate from US chose this restaurant only because of its geographical location. It was mid point between the Chennai airport and our house in the centre of the city. Though it was to discuss business and trade, his two adult children were also with him and wanted to try out some South Indian dishes The grown ups wanted... More

A heaven for South Indian dishes with par-excellent food with unmatched hospitality and decor. The prices are obviously over-priced but thats a given for a top notch luxury place like Dakshin.

I have to tell you this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in India. This is my first trip to Chennai and lot of my colleagues were raving about this restaurant. I will be honest I went there with no expectations what so ever but I should say I had the best experience while dining out.... More

I spent my birthday lunch at dakshin and I just loved the food. The staff were very courteous and the service was excellent! Sathish the manager ensured we always had food on our table and was delicious. The Onam sadya deserts were to die for ! I also got a chocolate complimentary cake in the end. If people like true... True to its name, the restaurant's got a very South Indian feel to it. It's a pretty interesting and different atmosphere. The food though was too spicy for my taste. The one who helped me with the menu and chipped in with the recommendations, Palanivel was genuinely apologetic when I complained about it. However, to make up for it, he... More

I was at Dakshin for a birthday dinner and I must say I enjoyed my meal. They serve a variety of chutneys along with their starters (one of which was a plantain bonda, and the other was some variant of adai). For the mains, we had appam and stew, and then one of ther brinjal dishes with parotta. Everything was... More

The service was top notch and the staff patiently explained to us the various dishes. The ambience is refined with live musicians playing their instruments. A truly wonderful place and would definitely go there again and recommend to others!

This chain of South-Indian restaurants at Sheraton never fails to deliver. Firstly, the taste at ANY of the DAKSHINs in India, is consistent. Second, variety is more than you can ask for - whether you're a vegan or not. My favorite - Bisibele Bhath and the Rasam, and ofcourse, their multiple varieties of 'chutney'.
