Gem of a place but average food

Clearly in the nature of a coffee house , the food is average , the prices expensive , but the ambience is sterling . Go when you want to wind down, and feel indulged, and indulge in slow life. Don't go for the food... Too bland, too unseasoned ....indian palate needs its spice kick

If one is a lover of nature and greenery then this place strikes you as soon as you enter it reminds you of Malaysia with the trees and green foliage and when you enter the porch, verandah and the small hall the atmosphere reminds you of the bygone British Era and more of a club where one can sit and chat... I heard it was a well known cafe. The prices and the ambiance also suggested it to be a cafe worth the Taste! Cafe's like this generally pay a lot of attention to details but I was really saddened to note that the piece of chocolate they served me with my Cappuccino contained EGG. Ingredients like Egg, etc to which... More

This place is more like a comfort place for me and friends..with great food, great service and of course a lovely ambiance (sitting without air conditioning in Chennai summers is a miserable experience). Try the combo lunches in the afternoons or the other great cuisine at any time.... you will never be disappointed.

I have been recommended by my friend to visit this place in Chennai. I am living in Chennai for decade and only when I parked my car in Amethyst I found that I have missed one of the pleasant identity of Chennai amidst bustling city just on the way to Satyam Cinemas parking from Express Avenue mall in Royapet.... Amethyst... More

This is a special place to visit. The garments, jewellery and curios available here are exclusive and hip. The place has a wonderful garden and its always a pleasure to visit them. The cafe is cool and a great place to relax. The florist here is by far the best in Chennai. A must visit place for visitors.

As you walk in to the cafe, you're greeted by greenery everywhere. The cafe is absolutely stunning with marble table tops and antique chairs which give it an old-world charm. It's best to visit the place in the evening and sit outside. The ambiance is perfect for catching up with friends or sitting alone with a good book. The quality... More

Really enjoyed my meal at Amethyst with the smoked salmon sandwich and bread and butter pudding spot on. The ambience is great too in a garden setting. The boutique on the first floor had lovely stuff but but very pricey so I just window-shopped there. Worth doing when in Chennai ...

Wonderful ambience! The garden cafe pulls you like a magnet post your shopping spree at Amethyst store (which has a mind-blowing collection). I have been here a couple of times when visiting Chennai and its always a pleasure to visit this place to satiate your shopaholic tendencies and your need to relax with your cup of tea. It is a must visit for visitors to Chennai and Chennaiites who want a break from the bustle of the city. The Ambience is Amazing. Out door seating is the best option on cooler day. During the summer months Air conditioned restaurant would be the natural choice. The waiters though aplenty , seem to miss the customers need to place... More
