Normally would review in the leisure time to have a track record of my visits, but this time after moving to amethyst several times, Got in to review this..! Visitors will really feel that they are out of Chennai from the buzz, crowd, stigma and really a Dhyan spot kind of restaurant which normally people in and around doesn't any... More

Well well this place and me have been associated for almost 10 years. I used live in chennai and this was a place that all out friends love to hang out at. The place is calm and serene as opposite to hectic noisy city life right in the Middle of the city. The restaurant itself serves the best coffee and... More

My daughter and I enjoyed Amethyst more as a coffee house than a restaurant. We did have lunch there (sandwich, pita bread and hummus) but really we just wanted to hang out for a few hours in comfy surroundings. We were never pressured to order more food or move on. The room is nicely furnished and the surrounding gardens are... More

Me and Amethyst Cafe have had an on and off relationship for a couple of years even before they moved in to Whites Road from their original spot in Gopalapuram. This place is more a hidden gem that has been hiding right in front of our eyes. There are still a lot of people who haven't got the slightest clue... More

Enjoy a good movie at Sathyam complex and move over to Amethyst for a great meal. Choose from Heavy snacks to a great meal from Cuisine of your choice. The ambience and food makes for a very pleasant outing. Can be a trifle expensive though!!!

Amethyst is now located on Whites Road, Next To Corporation Bank, Royapettah in Chennai and is quite a secluded wonder of wonders away from the hot, humid and crazy rush of the city..It's like escaping the urban jungle and stepping into a lush green landscape of flowers, greenery, water and other elements of nature with a huge colonial styled bungalow... I visit this place quite often but it's always for the ambience. The food here is completely awful and the drinks are no better. I ain't never had anything that's remotely nice and they haven't improved a bit. During my last visit had Mexican Chilli Toast (silly toast might have been more apt) and it was sad, what a cheesy... "I will be back" said Arnie in his famous flick. Well, I said the same to Amethyst when I left. A colonial bungalow, elegantly turned into an idyllic place to pause, Amethyst will make you forget that you are at the heart of busy metropolitan. A generous lawn area that now offers fantastic outdoor option, besides the air-conditioned enclosure that... More

Very chilled out place, designed in a very unique way to give an "away from the city" feel right in the heart of the city, ample park space, good food, tad bit expensive... But worth the lovely setting - greenery n unique architecture for a restaurant in the city...

And... relax... Walk into the greenery of the Amethyst Cafe and you could almost believe you were out of the city. They've gone to a lot of trouble to plant the garden with a wide variety of trees and scrubs, so go, take a seat and relax with a coffee or something to eat. It's on the pricey side, but... More
