Chettinad food at its best!

We went here for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary. The staff were very helpful, great ambiance, nice Tamil music and great tasty food. They even baked a cake especially for us. One of the best South Indian Chettinad restaurants I've ever been to! Highly recommend it!

You are welcomed with jasmine mala strips. Earlier you had seating in the open, but you do get pest who bother you, so the option of sitting inside is available. AS you sit, you are served with different Waddams and thereafter you get a Chutney and pickle trolley. After you have indulged in that you moved on to the next... More

Visited Raintree after using offer from Citibank Restaurant Week. The service was excellent as one would expect for a 5 star hotel. Both the starters and main course were very good. The deserts were not so great though. It is an expensive restaurant but fortunately our bill was much lower thanks to the offer from Citibank.

Great ambiance. Nicely spaced out tables that ensure privacy while dining. Quiet place. Great service typical of Taj - they try to customize to the extent possible. Never say no is their motive. Great food. One is never disappointed at a Taj outlet, in my experience. This being a Chettinad cuisine restaurant- if you do not like Garlic, stay away... More

Across the globe, there is something about the south that is special. In the US,southern acents are softer, the manners more pleasant. In china, women prefer husbands from the south of that country to men from the north,or so they claim. And in India, traditions have been kept pristine in the south, principally in Tamil Nadu, which has a unique culture dating back millenia. There is little... More

This is a fantastic way to experience South Indian food at its best. We started with some great cocktails and then tried the non-veg set menu, which is like a degustation. The food was stunning and the service was friendly and helpful. It cost about R10,000 (US$160) which was our most expensive meal in India by far, but well worth... More
