Over-Hyped Food

Food quality is decent... But too crowded and noisy.. Service is pretty good.. But that's at any South Indian Restaurant... It may have won many awards but... Its overhyped by media...

Many people will say this is the benchmark for South Indian food in Mumbai. But don't believe them. Almost stale tasting, very average quality food is what you can expect. That too, after a healthy wait for a table in a crowded atmosphere. Visit Dakshinayan at Walkeshwar or Juhu if you're looking for quality South Indian in Mumbai.

In older times, "Madras" represented South India, so does the name "Cafe Madras", which is more than 60 years old, otherwise its just another "Udipi" restaurant run by Kamaths, where you get different types of Dosas and Vadas, typically liked by all but real south-Indians ;-) They have few dishes like Upma-Podi ( I never heard in my life), Pongal-Avial...I... Be there just to become part of the history! Authentic South Indian! Historical Vibes! Wall full of certificates awarded by various organizations for best food in the city. Slight congested arrangement but just be there for the love of food

Been to this place a number of times. Almost every time there is a queue, but I don't mind. Totally love there rawa onion masala dosa and mysore masala dosa. The only downside is that you will have to share your table with strangers.real estate of this place is quite small which causes foodies to wait for their turn. The... More

The food here is very good and they have an interesting variety over and above the standard idli and dosa. At times you may have to wait in a long queue as this place is very popular.
