Quite busy since we came during lunch time. After a table was cleared, we gamely took our position. Since it was hot, we immediately asked for the piyush to cool us down. Definitely refreshing. Then came our orders of sabudana, thalipit, vatata vada, kothimbir vadi, and missal. There were five of us so we're a little crammed in our table.... More

Batta Puri preparation is of Sabudana .It is the special delicacy and you must try it. I also recommend you to try Bata Wada. The chutney prepared from peanuts is excellent . Try Piyush the authentic Maharashtrian Cold drink. I would also recommend Misal . It is not spicy like Kolhapuri Misal but it is worth trying,So try all the... More

Looking for an out and out, no frills, Maharashtrian food experience? It's got to be Prakash at Dadar. While comparisons with Aaswad are most likely, what I like best about Prakash is the fact that it offers only Maharashtrian food - No dosas, no sandwices etc. And yet the crowds (especially) on weekends are to be seen to be believed.... Have been lucky enough to live at a hop, skip and jump away from this amazing place. The Sabudana Vada is the absolute best. Of special mention is the Chutney that accompanies this dish. In my opinion for those that fall in love with Prakash's Sabudana Vada, few other foods can come close.

One of the best and most reasonable Maharashtrian snack/light meal outlets in Mumbai. My favourities at this place are sabudana wada, poha, sabudana khichadi, batata bhajiya, puri sukhi alu bhaji, puri patal/gili alu flower subzi, Misal, Thalipeeth, batata puri, masala rice - all of these are excellent. Though termed snacks they will fill you up as a proper meal. The Kharvas... More

Prakash has shifted opposite Sena Bhavan a while ago but the number of people flocking there has remained the same. One must visit Prakash for a taste of aunthentic Maharashtrian snacks and to be served in a homely ambience. Incidentally, I was introduced to the restaurant by Maharashtrians themselves, and on every visit I have found Maharashtrians relishing the fare.... More
