Superb Maharashtrian Cuisine!

Located diagonally opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan at the Gadkari Chowk itself and throngs of people waiting outside in queue makes Aaswad a sight hard to miss. The service is prompt and very responsive. the food is typical , the service is horrible, the huge lines make it even more dreadful, the only thing that deserves a mention is that their prices are still affordable. so you can eat a ton and not feel robbed.. i feel due to the rush and heavy crowd, somewhere they are loosing out on their food quality.. and... This place serves homely Maharashtrian food. Had lunch (normally I prefer non-veg food, but this place is an exception) - the food is just superb! We had... (also recommend to have): 1) Vaangi (brinjal) masala (thick gravy) 2) Pithla (Maharashtrian dish made from gram flour) served with bhakri and you get vaangi masala with this - so no need to... More

Normally good food, comfortable place with AC suitable even for the extended family and reasonable price, all these three qualifiers is rather difficult to apply to any one outlet..Aaswad ranks well on all these three most important criteria.. Serving Maharashtrian cuisine in Dadar Shivaji Park area for decades.. the place is managed well by the ever smiling staff.. It can... More

The place is my sons favourite and he is only 3. You can value for money. The staff is very courteous and are open to modifications as per taste. The only problem are the extremely long waiting times any day of the week except Monday. Monday they are closed :)

This place serves authentic maharashtrian food. I'd been there for lunch. The food is just awesome. I had been there for a office team lunch. Everyone had the time of their life. I recommend: 1) dalimbi usal: unique, delicious bean curry 2) wanga masala: hot spicy brinjal dry curry 3) pithale: a maharashtrian staple made of chickpea flour 4) kothibir... More

Aaswad reminds me of those Irani cafe days wherein one would willingly share tables, and the whole attitude was just no-frill attached. The food is simple, and yet, delicious. My hot favourites have always been: - Thalipeeth: a mixed grain flat bread. The white butter that they serve it with makes it even more yummy. - Kotimbeer Wadi: Kotimbeer (fresh... More
