Two families joined to be at the restaurant for dinner tonight, just the evening before Diwali.. We ordered a bit unusual - starters as palak patte ki chaat, corn kababs etc. Great presentation but cold. As we fed it back to the manager, main course became a delight. Main course was a beautiful experience - Endmame with paneer rolls, 3... More

This restaurant in the Taj Mahal hotel is an attempt at fusing European fine dining concepts with (mainly) North Indian cuisine. The decor is mostly Mughal influenced. The staff are obviously well trained, and were quick to offer explanations about everything from the name of the restaurant (means edible gold leaf placed on food) to the various types of food... Superlatives are becoming passe. But nothing else does justice to food of this quality. I was staying at the Taj and wandered down to Varq for dinner almost by accident. The service was unobtrusive, yet attentive. The starters were brilliant. The main course too was outstanding, in terms of the refinement of taste. I had a chick-pea and chilly dish... More

I love Taj and all restaurants of Taj Hotels are unique . But Varq is something different . The food & it's aroma makes you feel you have come to a Royal Palace, when the food comes and you start eating you will feel a Royalty . In this restaurant every thing is authentic Indian Royalty. They say it is expensive... More

This time with my wife. Was great as usual. Saw some negative reviews about varq and a word about the cuisine and these reviews first. It is a different kind of Indian food and very well presented. For those looking for standard malai kofta curry and paneer butter masala indeed it's the wrong place but if you can experiment a... More

i would say "the best" when it comes to modern Indian. Even the restaurant is within a five star hotel, you feel very comfortable. Lunch deal isn't bad. Worth try it if you are in town

A very different menu - blend of cuisines, the ambience and the desire to please are definite plusses. Expensive (of course well within 5-star deluxe norms). The food presentation is excellent and the taste good. While the staff in general is very pleasant and eager, some training called for as one of the staff kept carelessly spilling... An overall delightful... More

Maybe the best, if you are looking for a inventive indian cuisine, made with knowledge, historical respect, and must of all, very good. Staff will go out of their way to make your meal memorable, kind and efficient, everything to make your lunch or dinner a special one.

Given the comments by other people, we expected something amazing but left disappointed - maybe the chef was having a bad day. Firstly the good things - the staff, superb; the ambiance, very good and the presentation was incredible- it was impossible not to be impressed. However it was the food itself that let the place down - it was... More
