Good Place

This was one of the Oldest surviving Restaurants in Kandy. It was owned by the Paiva family and moved to various members through about 3 generations, ( started off as Paivas Tea Room) It was more renowned for their good pastries. Paiva's have been a name in catering in Sri Lanka for over 50 years. They have a restaurant in Kandy, serving typical Sri Lnkan food. The place is for locals and can be hot and typical. However the food is excellent and is ideal to take away. Light snakcs for lunch or for simply sitting by the lake is ideal.... More

Visited on a Sunday and we were the only people in there! Ordered two curries and although mine was fine my girlfriends Paneer curry had no paneer and potato instead! Curries were ok, reasonable but with no atmosphere I would suggest there's better places to visit.

Was there recently and even though the place is ordinary as many others in this country;the grub is good and reasonably priced. In general in Sri Lanka food will never be a great chip in your walllet.

we had a great Kuthu Rotti here but it isn't on the menu (!!!) we asked the waiter what Sri Lankan food they do as the menu is just Chinese and European. Very tasty and very well priced.

if you don't mind being stared at a bit this is a nice place to eat in the city center. Locals clearly are not used to seeing too many tourists here and tend to stare at you a bit but the staff do everything to make you enjoy your visit. As this is clearly not purely a tourist spot food... More

We have been traveling for several months and eat at food stalls, basic restaurants, cafes and 5 star establishments. For us its all about the food! We also know better than to eat somewhere which is empty, doesn't have several menu items available, advertises tandoori food but doesn't have a tandoor and where the menus are dirty and sticky. Quite... More
