Visited the Empire after a long day out with my partner Carolyn and a young lady from Germany who had joined us for the day. Service was ok and Carolyns chicken curry was as she stated at the time " The best I've had in Sri Lanka so far" some of the other food may be an attempt to far... read more

This is a cool cafe/restaurant by the Manor House Group. It has brightly colored walls, doors and furniture and serves a good but dam hot Sri Lankan curry and rice dish. It is just around the corner from the Temple of the Tooth and closes its kitchen at 8pm. You can stay here too although it may be too close... More

The Empire Cafe is located on the ground floor of the Olde Empire Hotel. My husband and I stumbled upon it as it is opposite the Temple of the Tooth. We decided to have a drink - the iced coffee was AMAZING. So delicious and creamy and refreshing after a long morning. After our drinks, my husband and I decided... More

Food and beverages were pleasing, we tried the rice and curry with fish and chicken. Makes a nice lunch spot, next to the Tooth Temple, really cool regenerated building. Little bit touristy but the building is worth checking out. Very close to the lake too.

Centrally located café/hotel with lots of charm and a very friendly waitstaff. If you're looking for traditional Sri Lankan fare, go elsewhere. However, if you want a good salad and a nice juice within spitting distance of the Tooth Relic temple then this is the place.

Food and service was okay, decently priced. I personally, feel the food could be better. I ordered the fish and chips, and did not like the fish they used. The chips were good though :)

I realise most people might be coming here for a respite from curries, but my boyfriend ordered the Empire classic curry and rice here is to die for! Maybe the best we've tasted in Sri Lanka surprisingly. It was a 5 star meal! I had the mango curry chicken wrap. It was ok. A recommendation would be to use less... More

Great selection of western food and curries and such. Just steps away from the Temple of the Tooth. The staff were courteous and attentive. The desserts were perfect.

We called in at this restaurant for lunch between our visit to the Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth. The service was pretty good and the food was excellent. Very good value for money.

We stopped in here on the way to the temple. We had two juices which were good. We then ordered two wraps - one chicken mango and one BLT with avocado. The wraps were poor. My chicken didn't look or taste like chicken, so I didn't eat it. My boyfriend didn't finish his BLT either. Juices were good but I... More
