Great service, happy to help

Having been in Sri Lanka, for just over a week, and the only sugar in our diet has been a world popular brown caffeinated carbonated drink, as the local diet is not sugar focused, we really valued the simplicity of iced donuts and a peaceful sit down. The service was good. This is a sad confession... read more

We loved this restaurant. Away from the offerings of the hotels and guesthouses this is a genuine Sri Lankan bakery for breakfast, lunch and dinner (although it closes at 7:30pm). For breakfast have the hoppers, and for lunch or dinner try the biriyani or noodles. It's simple and cheap but service always comes with a smile

This was one of the best restaurants in Anurahdapura in 80's but today is a cheap eating place with poor quality.

Better than we expected! We were hungry and ordered two Kotu Rotis. It tasted wonderful and the cook waiting to make sure we enjoyed it! Nice owners :)

We were looking for "hopper" - a Sri Lankan style pancake in a market place and wandered into this place by accident. Salgado was a thriving local cafe with variety of choices for coffee, drinks, and sweets. Customers keep coming in but the air ventilation inside the cafe was bad. There was dense cooking smoke so we opted for a... More

Salgado is a restaurant chain and shares the same menu of hundreds of other "hotels" along the busy streets of every Sri Lankan city. We stopped off at the Main Street shop after touring around for the day. They serve the usual spicy Sri Lankan pastries and curried buns, as well as bread and tea and coffee etc. This facility... Our cab driver dropped my partner and me off here. It's a highlight of sorts on the main street in town. We ordered a sausage roll and some pastries. They were okay - nothing spectacular. But I suppose it's popular among tourists and locals nonetheless.
