Great place

Good food or fair prices. Very nice staff, mostly English speaking, and give good advices about treks in the area. Good starting place for tourists in Huaraz.

Initially off put by the higher than average prices, we decided to get lunch there due to our significant hunger, and the range of nice looking items on the menu. We were not disappointed. Unlike other "western" cafes and restaurants, California Cafe serves up delicious dishes with true-to-home flavours and portion sizes. There's also a nice library of books, and... More

I love this place!! And unlike other disappointing trips down the Huaraz memory lane from 10yrs previously - California Cafe gladly delivered!! I was so happy to have quality food, delicious food and great atmosphere... Well done for still being as great 10yrs on (way before TripAdvisor days!!). It's totally worth the walk in the opposite direction from Gringo Plaza.

Ended up spending a lot of time here while in Huaraz. Friendly staff, good coffee and awesome food. The homemade bread on the sandwiches is awesome as are the breakfast options... it's on the pricey side for Huaraz, but the atmosphere makes it hard to leave.

Visited here on a quick trip to Huaraz for an American breakfast. It was great and the bread especially fantastic! Prices are a little more expensive than normal Peruvian meals but still comparatively cheap. Free wifi as well. Would recommend.

The place has a welcoming atmosphere, the staff is very friendly and the hot chocolate and brownies are out of this world!

I stopped in here my first morning in Huaraz and was pleasantly surprised. When I walked in a beautiful hint of some sort of inscense lingered in the air. I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff member who also spoke English, which was helpful. There's a large selection of teas and coffees and the food options are almost limitless... More

I spent most of the day camped out at a table at this Cafe. I work remotely while I travel and this is a very pleasant place to work. Initially I had trouble with the wifi but the English speaking staff very quickly reset the router and all was smooth after that. I had a bagel with cream cheese and... More

My friend and I only got to eat there 2 times. Both times he got the pancakes and I got a sandwich. Oh goodness the pancakes are scrumptious. They're thick, substantive, and heavenly with syrup and butter. My friend is a light eater so I got to finish off what he didn't want. Lucky me! My sandwiches were so good.... More

After trying a couple of places in Huaraz, I ate most of my breakfasts at California Café. Fresh ingredients, very filling breakfast, excellent coffee and nice service. Wifi is reliable too.
