They have real bacon. The bread is delicious and tastes like it is fresh out of the oven. The teapots are generous. The bagels are huge. The breakfast packages are pretty good value and it's the kinda cafe you can safely sit and tap away on your tablet or laptop for hours (they have plenty of power points too). Clearly... More

My boyfriend and I ate there several times during our staying in Huaraz. The prices are a bit expensive relatively to the city, but it worth it! The place is nice and cozy, with great atmosphere and great food! The breakfast combos are very rewarded, but the pizza bagel is so good, you shouldn't miss it for the world!

I just stopped in because I heard about their extensive book library, and ended up staying a couple of hours. Very relaxed and comfy, with sofas and a guitar in the back. Expensive compared to Peruvian standards, but even the simple snack I ordered (coca tea and bread) was delightful!

This unassuming little joint is just off the plaza and has had my business every visit to Huaraz. There is no place homier or more comfy. The fruit salads are large and filled with great fruit, yogurt, honey, and granola. Their bacon is thick cut and absolutely wonderful; the french toast is perfect. Service is not rushed, but I've never... More

In Huaraz, most proper cafés open rather late. California cafe is an exception. Very good Peruvian coffee, excellent cakes, and very good breakfast offers, including homemade bread, eggs with potatoes and fruit juice(Orange or Passion fruit) among other options. In terms of price, it is expensive considering the average prices in Huaraz, however it's comfortable setting and decent Internet connection... More

The food and coffee were great. Veg and noodle soup v. tasty as was basic bread/ eggs/ juice/ coffee breakfast. The bread in particular was great - not as sweet as most bread here and really tasty. We were however a bit dissapointed by the book exchange (the reason we had come in the first place). They have lots of... More

Was a great blast of nostalgia for US coffee shops after a few weeks stay in the Ancash. Decent bagels and soup. Coffee smells different from Peruvian coffee.

They´ve got the best chocolate cake in town but it seems like nobody that works there is there to work. You order coffee and they forget to bring it to you, forget to bring you sugar or extras, you have to get up and go beg for it. You enter and nobody brings you the menu or asks if you... More

My friends and I loved California Cafe! The staff was super friendly and so accommodating!! They gave me a different option of bread because of my nut allergy and even filled up my water bottle without hesitation. The relaxed atmosphere and natural lighting makes it a great place to spend the morning reading relaxing and enjoying an excellent cup of... More
