Pleasant pause on the Mekong.

While travelling on the Mekong from Vietnam and Cambodia this was one of many restaurants we ate at. As a vegetarian and hungry travelers we were well catered for.

We chose this restaurant for our evening meal (party of 5) after spending the afternoon in Can Tho sightseeing. The location of the restaurant is perfect - overlooking the water and the busy river. Waiters were polite, efficient and helpful. The food on this occasion was of a high standard, tasty and beautifully prepared. Would recommend !

There was problem with our tour company when we arrived in HCM City and we were assigned a German speaking guide that did not speak English. We had to wait a couple hours for a nice English speaking guide to leave his family Tet celebration to intervene in our emergent language issue. The tour company felt so bad that they... More

Foods are delicious! Waiters were polite and helpful with our inquiries. The setting is quite romantic and beautiful with dim lightings beside the river. However, the table I was assigned to was a little too dark for me to read the menu and look at the foods that were being served to me properly.

the food was awful, we did not even finish it. The price is higher than anywhere, probably the worse we ate in Vietnam. the view is however wonderful, the place is fine too. if you like being amongst foreigners you might like this place, just don't go for a good dinner, probably perfect for a drink.

Well, we should have taken heed of others. It was pretty full of tourists and they wanted a throughflow of eaters so service was excellent and very fast. I had sautéed noodles and beef with morning glory. It was fine but nothing to grab you by the taste buds. My wife had chicken in tamarind sauce and rice. Similar comments.... More

Dear Daisy, Thank you for your remarks. I wish you had been here during the low season, we would hopefully have made your passage worth your while. I am afraid that the Sao Hom is seen a safe choice for many tour operators, and so yes, indeed, in the peak of the high season, the place can be a bit... More

We came here for breakfast and the food wasn't too bad. We appreciated the view and location, which is looking over the river, so expect to pay a little more.

This restaurant was recommended by our tour guide. It is run by a French man who has married a local lady so I guess that their food, although local, has a western influence. Eating at a table at the side of the river, watching the ferry boasts scuttle back and forth was terrific. There were a number of big tables... More

Dear Dojies, Thank you for your support. We appreciate. You are actually right on all accounts. As Cần Thơ is typically at the end of one's journey through Vietnam, we make Vietnamese specialties and spices available, but do not make the meals too spicy by default as it may be hard on the weary traveler. And yes, there is a... More

Ordered Mekong Delta set menu + some a la carte. Vegetables expected to be good but were overcooked, fish soup insipid, beef very chewy no comparison with same dish elsewhere at similar price. Fish in clay pot was better, fruit salad was minimal. So all together a disappointing experience.

Thank you Laurie, for your time. Yes, indeed, Vietnamese cuisine can be very tasty and inexpensive. Right across the street, for one, at the night market stalls. If you are in for a local food adventure, there are indeed better places. Yet if you car efor a healthy diet, or just a healthy tomorrow, and if you still would like... More
