BLINK AND YOU MISS IT, then you'll be kicking yourself after..

Ok, a self proclaimed foodie i'm seriously guilty of not writing enough TA reviews but KaKuReYa deserves more recognition - two years living in Koh Tao and I'd never even heard of this place. Located on the hill up from the Songsern Pier, a right turn just before Pong Mechanics - if you weren't... read more

This has to be one of the best Japanese meals I have ever had. The setting is perfect. So personal and so intimate. It was as though I was being exclusively entertained, with menu items arriving one by one. The owners were engaging (I was dining alone) and went out of their way to accommodate my every need. They provided... More

The location, although hard to find, is wonderful once you actually get there. But it did take us a while to find it, especially the sign that had no lighting on a dark road. And then you walk up this hill, then a bunch of steps, you feel like you are going into someone's home... When you arrive, you have... More

Sit on the floor on mats at low tables or grab one of the four barstools in this small and intimate, open air Japanese hideaway restaurant and indulge in home prepared, authentic Japanese specialties and sushi by a gracious Japanese chef and host. A bit of a hike up the hill, but worth the trek as you look over the... More

In one word WOW! Amazing fresh seafood in an amazing cosy atmosphere! Not the cheapest menu but for this quality you don't mind to pay a little bit more. Must visit when you love Japanese food!

A great Japanese restaurant in Koh Tao. KaKuReYa is located up in the hill next to the pier with a nice view. Food is very tasty and fresh. Must go if you visit Koh Tao. What an atmosphere.

Tucked out of the way, 10 mins walk from the main pier, this little gem was well worth finding. It seems that this Japenese restaurant has no marketing or advertising done at all. The busy little place stays busy because of word of mouth alone! The food's not cheap, but the quality and effort put in makes his food worth... More
