If you are in Amritsar, you must eat the authentic Amritsari food at Kesar Da Dhaba. The restaurant is in not fancy by any standards but the food is delicious. They use more butter by any standards so if you are diet conscious tell them when you place the order.

I visit this restaurant with my mom on 18-Apr-2014 @ dinner. We asked for two paranthe wali thali (black lentil, chickpea, mixed yoghurt with two ghee coated laccha parantha). We really enjoyed the meal. After main course we asked for dessert (Hot Gulab jamun and Phirni) which was again amazing. At the end of meal we asked for two glass... More

I think the title said it all, but I can't stress enough, do try:- 1) The Daal Makhni (drool), they take 12 hours to make it! 2) The Palak Paneer 3) The Phirni (you may feel like eating 6 of these at one go, so, unless you have a seperate dessert pouch attached to your stomach like me, save space... First time in Amritsar and first time in Punjab. We were looking forward to the famous Punjabi hospitality, big heartedness and love and we aren't disappointed. Day 1 for lunch we decided to go to Kesar da dhabba. We were warmly welcomed inside and treated like royalty. The food was very rich and delicious. Laccha parathas are an absolute no... More

This nearly century old place has been a golden standard for good indian food over the years. During our recent visit this just got reconfirmed. The only regret is that our appetite is not big enough to taste all the goodies. The dal roti paratha were excellent. The charm of walking through the narrow lanes is an added bonus.

An iconic little place of sorts nestled in one of the winding alleys near the Golden Temple and buzzing with eaters of all stripes (quite a few regulars)... has retained the rusty feel of a dhaba when others choose to grow big and choose to gentrify. But the food...oh... absolutely delightful... never had parathas feel and taste so good in... More

Very good veg dhaba in Amritsar specially for Maa Ki daal and phirni. Dhaba is in narrow lanes of Amritsar one can reach by cycle rikshaw or by walking (15 mins) from golden temple. Staff is friendly. All dishes are made in desi ghee and taste yummy specially Maa ki dal. Must visit if you are visiting Amritsar.
