Description: Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is one of the most popular places to eat out in...
Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is one of the most popular places to eat out in West End, Roatan Island, Honduras. The restaurant is considered a sort of minor celebrity on the island and locals as well as visitors try it at least once when visiting the West End area. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine has been built reflecting the heritage and originality of where it came from. It supports a traditional Thai look which makes it stand out like a jewel among all those island bars and fun-in-the-sun beach cafe types. The restaurant gives off an aura of old world Thai culture mixed with the stunning beauty of the tropical Caribbean islands; sort of taking the best of both worlds and combining them to form this beautiful place. It holds elements from both the Thai and the tropics; the seating and flooring along with the whole building has been made out of wood which is very island style. The decor, the foliage, the plating and the entire ambience has been arranged to mimic the Thai style which brings about an exotic harmony of the two cultures. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine provides a chance for both locals and vacationers to have a taste of the diversity of Thai food. It is the only restaurant serving this cuisine, which makes it an even more unique place. It is located in the middle of West End itself, in a prominent area. Lunch and dinner are served here with an amazing variety of flavorful Thai cuisine. This Asian cuisine uses very subtle flavors that are so different from those used on the island. For example, tamarind sauce, fish sauce, palm sugar, tangy and fragrant herbs and spices combine to achieve that exotic sweet and sour Thai taste. This provides a startlingly lovely contrast with the freshly squeezed fruit drinks offered made from the island's tropical fruit. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is the place to be if you're a food lover on vacation and even reviews say it is a must try place on Roatan Island. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine Tong's Thai Island Cuisine One of the most preferred dishes in Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is the Pad Thai. It is served both with lobster and shrimp and has gotten rave reviews from customers and staff alike. All of the dishes are fresh, steaming hot, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Small flavors like lime, extra spices, and dried chillies are offered to the customers to enhance the essence and aroma of the food. They have a great variety of soups and starters paired with vegetables, meat or chicken to awaken your appetite and leave you hungry for more. The staff is extremely well trained and they make sure that no client leaves the restaurant unhappy. They are discreet, well mannered and very quick with the service.

Awesome Change of Pace for Island Eating

We love stopping by this spot. After a week of fried food and fish sandwiches, thai is a welcome change. The location of this restaurant makes it even more fun, since the table sit over the water. I've been to Thailand a few times and this was not like Thai food. I would say that it has some Thai influence but I would not call it Thai food. It was way over priced for what you got and the quality was really lacking. I would have rather spent my money somewhere else.

Loved our papaya salad outside on a pier over the turquoise water with a view of the horizon or looking back at West End charm.

This is our first choice dish in all west end after tasting more then 100 different ones in many restaurants in the west end. Service was great and food was very good, the rice dish was less so. Will return for sure.

We ate dinner here one night and enjoyed it greatly. It wasn't the best Thai food I've had, but it was pretty good. We eat a LOT of Thai food and I have friends who are Thai, so I get to eat it a lot. I thought that everything we had was really delicious. The location was really nice -... More

We have visited Tong's on past trips to Roatan and once again we were not disappointed. The Pad Thai is delicious and the best that I have had anywhere! The fresh Spring Rolls are also very good. Service is attentive even when the place is packed and people are lined up waiting. We have always been lucky and have sat... More

We usually are a bit cautious as far as trying thai cuisine away from big metropolis. But we were very happy with our meal. The noodle salad with scallops, the som tam and the curries were all equally delicious. I have to say it was a nice change to the ice but a bit bland cuisine of the island.

All the locals raved about this place. Tried to get in here a couple nights, but was always packed. Finally did and did not disappoint! The food, staff and location on the water was great! Pad Thai and curry was excellent!
