This was one of the best meals we had in Ecuador. The green plantain soup was amazing. I would recommend this place despite the price.

The food is decent but a bit pricey ($15-20 main course). Surprisingly most of the patrons seem to be local - which may suggest the quality of the meals there. Menu has lots of photos and is very friendly to non Spanish speakers to order.

You're paying for the location which isn't really that special but in down town. Service was somewhat sporadic at lunch time. Had ceviche which tasted like ketchup soup, might be the touristic version of real ceviche, for that you have to as for "ceviche criollo". The caldo de salchicha was really good and the Fanesca (typical salt fish soup with... More

We wanted to go to another seafood restaurant near our hotel (Hostal Macaw), but apparently they weren't open in the evening. Since we were going to be on the Malecon2000, the owner of the hotel recommended we go to La Canoa for lunch. It was a good choice for us - we weren't terribly hungry, we mostly ceviche and they... My parents and I ate here after a 9 hour bus ride from Quito. The food was very tasty. The complementary beans and hominy with a spicy salsa was so yummy! And I may have had one of my top 3 coffees of all time. Our server Daniel was very kind. He brought menus with English translations so my parents... More

We read about this cafe in our Lonely Planet so stumbled in after our flight from the Galapagos. We were surprised to find it the place to be in town - filled with snazzily dressed locals. The food was great - and the portions generous.

Ohhh yum, the plantain cheese empanadas were excellent, love the hot sauces, picantes. Had the pollo con arroz, would recommend. Huge selection of all natural fruit juices, watermelon was excellent as was the passion fruit juegos. Highly recommend for a quick, easy, cheap meal.

A popular restaurant with excellent food. Rather pricey by Ecuadorian standards, but not outrageous... sometimes it is true that "you get what you pay for". We would eat here again if we were to return to Guayaquil.

A friend and I ate at this restaurant in August and were sorry we did. The food was average but the service was beyond poor. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he suggested the most expensive item on the menu -- not much thought in that! When I decided on something else he treated us as an inconvenience.... More
