Go inside if a long wait for a terrace table

Having picked this restaurant from T.A. we found it on one of the narrow alleys leading away from the main square. We were told it was a one hour wait for a terrace table. While we were offered an inside table it sounded like second best, but went for it and once in were delighted with the ambience... read more

Food is good and well prepared although nothing creative and a tad on the heavy side. Prices are higher than competition although the quality and experience is not better. Housewine is very good though. A good restaurant priced like an excellent restaurant.

When we arrived we worked out that Giannino is owned by the same owners as Bar Rio and Puntulina and our waiter confirmed this fact to us when we saw all three venues names on the bottle of olive oil on the tables... We had recently dined at Puntulina (and very much enjoyed it) but were a little disappointed that... More

We followed a recommendation of our host, who referred to the restaurant as the one with the freshest fish in town. We started with the fish carpaccio and tuna tartar. The arrangement was nice, but the fish did not catch up with the presentation. Main dish was a turbot, which was ok but not as special as the bill in... More

Right from stepping into the cool interior (we ate inside as it was about 37C outside) I thought this would be an ok experience. How wrong I was - it was excellent, very very fine indeed. We were shown a platter of just caught fish, and offered ways in which they could be served. We chose lobster with pasta (for... More

Slightly off the beaten track in Rovinj is Giannino. Lovely atmosphere and helpful staff had the best meal on my visit to Croatia. Fish was delivered from the quay only an hour and a half before it was cooked. It was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious with accompanying vegetables. Don't go to Rovinj without stopping at this restaurant. Other... More

Like many restaurants in Rovinj, Giannino's has the feel of a family run affair with friendly service and really good down to earth food. We ate the mixed fried and mixed grilled seafood - both great dishes with good selections of fish and shellfish. The cuttlefish was some of the best I've had anywhere. We completed our meal with the... More

its easy to be seduced into a seaview restaurant or the harbour when in Rovinj ,but take the time for a stroll around the side streets and you may come across this gem.On our first visit we sat outside but on the second we were only able to sit inside you won't be disappointed it's lovely. The quality of year food... We visited this restaurant last summer and had a very good experience. This year was even better! Very good fish - the best in town! Excellent service! This restaurant is as we view it the best in Rovinj. It should have been better located, but the food and the service brings it up to the top.

Found this restaurant by chance as it is tucked away up a side street from the main street. The service was really professional and the food excellent. There is a limited choice of dishes which I think gives them the opportunity to excel with each dish. Started with the mixed shell fish to share, followed by fried fish main course... More
