Description: Restaurant Palace Paladini is placed at the old ancient part of City of Hvar. We offer fish delicious, meat and vege specialities, greatest wines and champagnes (Dom Perignon/Rose, Crystal, Moet & Chandon...).The palace where you are about to eat belonged to an old noble family from the Hvar called Paladinic (Paladinis - Italian version; de Paladinis - Latin version).Palace de Paladinis, built in renaissance style, is one of the most beautifull and outstanding Hvar palaces, situated in the southern part of the oldest nucleus of the town Hvar below the fortress known as Forto Spagnuolo. The upper palace Paladini was once the residence of Petar Hectorovic. Coat of arms found above the main entrance to the palace, on the family well erected in the garden, on the renaissance basin on the balcony of the palace and on the balustrade of the balcony bares two motives: a royal lily on the upper field and eagle`s wing of Subic family on the lower field. The present-day form of the palace (ground-floor, three upper floors and a monumental balcony - one of the most beautiful in Dalmatia) was designed by Nikola Paladinic, son of Jakov, who fought very bravely in the seabattle between Venetian and Turkish fleet. After the battle the Republic of Venice proclaimed him the knight of St Marc with golden toga.Palaces of Hvar noblemen clearly evidence of economic prosperity and cultural development of the local families in the 15th and 16th century. Furthermore, rich plebeian families always tried to keep step with noblemen which is quite manifest from their residental palaces (Vukasinovic-de Lupis, Garguric) that equal in their beauty even the most famous of noblemen of the town Hvar (Lucic, Paladini, Hectorovic, Gazarovic, Garguric, Vukasinovic...) where not erected during the period of town`s greatest prosperity, but only after the year 1571 when turks burnt the town and 1579 when lightning struck the ammunition warehouse at the town fortress causing a tremendous catastrophy.

Great setting, a little over priced...but the pan fried shrimp were AMAZING (best I've ever had), and a great deal compared to other items on the menu. If I were to visit again I would probably order a liter of wine and a heaping mound of the little crispy critters. Unlike some others, I didn't have any problems with service.

We were a bit disappointed by the food here. The setting was lovely and our waiter was nice enough but food was a lot about form over substance and quite expensive for what it is. The wine list is good but the business of decanting was way over the top and mildly irritating.

The most rude staff I have ever met, very confrontational owner when complaint was made, accusing us of not having any money to pay for the food and drinks this was why we were complaining. The seafood was not as we had experienced in the village, very poor quality and over priced, in response to this the manager insulted us... More

Whilst the food was okay, the service was down right DISGUSTING. I've never experienced something like this in my entire life travelling all over the world. Honestly, the service was an embarrassment to Croatian hospitality. Initially we were told that there were no tables in the courtyard, that's probably because the manager was sat down with her friends and/or family... More

Dear guest, firstly thank you very much for your visit, and truly we appreciate any comment of our guests. But, I am truly disappointed to see all those words. We had no place in our courtyard, because everything was full. And yes, our owner was at one table, having business meeting. If we had any free place outside, trust me,... More

The service was good, the food was very tasty but they really charge too much for everything... every drink cost 30 kunas (more than 4 eur)... so we payed 120 kunas (15 eur) just for 2 juices and 1 water and 1 beer. Also the food is expencive, but very very tasty.

Romantic atmosphere in a walled-in garden (no view, though), and the food was passable. What turned us off was their refusal to accept a VISA credit card, in spite of the sign on the door. The excuse was that the minimum charge is 1000 kn (about $ 200)! This screwed up our cash management.

After we ordered, apparently not expensive items or something, I saw the waiter shake his head. The food here is average at best and the prices are completely outrageous. On top of that I felt extremely uncomfortable during our entire experience. Finally, we we're informed that it was 1000 KN minimum to use a credit card and I didn't bring... More
